So your reason for collecting is the difficulty it is to find figures you want...? Wow, the "thrill of the hunt" type. I actually like figures for their sakes--to have a character I like to look at & would like to pose & think of stories for. Maybe even do a kind of D&D type roleplaying. Seems an odd motivation to get them only because of the "collectible" nonsense aspect of it that just comes down to the company being dumb and not stocking them well enough. Might as well be buying figures that are priced for no reason at hundreds of dollars so you can feel that you've accomplished something by throwing money around.
