Hello again everyone.

This week, I would like to provide you with information about the interesting and fun old toys that were recently added to my collection and those that were added to my collection in previous years.

I have specifically chosen 10 toys that have wind-up mechanisms and interesting operating systems, and I would like to provide you with information about these toys. If you like this article, I can prepare similar short articles about various toys.

1- The music box named "Teaching Clock" was created in 1962 by Fisher Price, which was founded during the Great Depression. We see that a large amount of wood was used in the production of this music box. Nails were used to fix both wood and plastic.

The round section containing images such as the sun and clouds is made of sheet metal. While plastic is used for the handle, its coating is made of paper.

There is a winding mechanism on the back of the watch. When you turn it, it plays a beautiful melody that will help children fall asleep. The hour and minute hands on it are movable and there are various educational visuals on the right and left of the music box.

2- The teddy bear that listens to music you see is a very fun toy. As a result of my research, I think it was produced in the late 80s or early 90s.

This cute bear, powered by 2 batteries, walks and listens to music thanks to the interesting movement mechanism on its feet. The red LED on the front is on steadily. You can move its arms however you want.

Since the mechanism of such toys is very sensitive, they need to be operated and maintained from time to time. However, unfortunately, it is difficult to say that the condition of this toy in my collection is very high until today. A little restoration work was done by my brother.

3- Police Motorcycle I can say that it is one of my favorite toys newly added to the collection. It's a wind-up toy that I think was produced in the 90s. Apart from being a fun toy, its mechanism is also very eye-catching.

Every time you turn the winding mechanism of the toy, the plastic designed as a light on the back turns. While you place it on the ground and watch it move, the plastic part designed as a light moves, and the engine can go back and continue its journey with the mechanism underneath after going forward for a certain period of time.

It is one of those rare toys that looks simple but has more than one part moving.

4- Monkey toy from The Not So Grand Band series, which is also one of my favorite toys. This toy, produced by Tomy in 1980, has a winding mechanism. Plastic was generally used in the production of the product.

When you set up the toy and start watching, you can hear the bells hitting each other very quickly and making a sound. Additionally, the monkey can continue walking during this time. Yes, this is a very small toy but the fun it offers is huge.

5- This monkey can do somersaults. Yes, this toy with an interesting mechanism, produced by Super Toys in 1983, is perhaps one of the most striking among wind-up toys.

Instead of the standard white winding button, a winding button that matches the color of the toy is used.

The plastic quality of the product is really great for its time. After setting up the toy and placing it on the ground, the mechanism works quickly, allowing the monkey to roll over continuously.

I think the lucky children who were able to play with such fun toys in the 80s were never bored.


6 and 7 - Rope Skipping Bear and Rope Skipping Tiger, produced by the Japanese toy manufacturer Masudaya Toys and very popular in the 80s and 90s.

These toys, powered by 2 batteries, constantly jump rope thanks to the movable arm mechanism. I had the blue bear version in the 90's. I even remember that when I put the batteries in upside down, it flipped over to the wrong side.

There are currently 2 versions of this toy, which has many different varieties, in my collection. Iron is usually used in the string part, but plastic is used in the Tiger toy in my collection, so I can say that it is a rarer variant.

To give a little more information about the manufacturer Masudaya Toys. It is also the manufacturer of the legendary Neptune Tin Ship toy.

8- This cute doll, produced by New Ray, has a winding mechanism. It is generally made of hard plastic, but a soft rubber material is used in the head part.

After turning the winding mechanism, only the legs of the toy move. However, since the movement mechanism is very well adjusted, we can see movements close to a real baby walk.

9- Swimming child. It is another wind-up toy that was very popular in the 90s.

After setting up the mechanism, it was very enjoyable to put it in a bowl full of water and watch it swimming. Many children were playing with this toy especially on the beaches during the summer months.

Smaller and shorter versions are popular. The version in my collection is the larger version. It has equipment such as pallets and tubes.

10- Snow White and the seven dwarfs, the story we all know. Here you see one of the dwarfs. My research on this toy continues. However, I think it may have been produced in the late 80s and early 90s.

This toy, made in China, has a rope on the back. When you pull this string, the toy vibrates and moves. This rope movement system is used in different ways in many old toys. In the new era, we can remember the Woody toy from Toy Story.
