yeah the paint apps are good and sometimes the sculpt isn't terrible, but the poseability is horrendous. It would be so much better if Mcfarlane replaced their figures with statues you can't move. Their joints serve only to make them hard to stand up. And stand up is the only pose they will do, until eventually they do their only other pose - laying down. The toe articulation is so loose it's a bug. The joints are so crappy they don't move, stay or look good in any position other than straight. Look at the promo photos for a figure. If they didn't manage to get the figure in a compelling pose for the promo photos - what chance do you have? Sure if you like a bunch of figures standing straight up awkwardly, then Mcfarlane are for you. Otherwise this company is consistently biting off more than it can chew and trying to deliver figures that look good before trying to deliver figures that function properly. I just wish someone had told me this before i bought a bunch of these. I kept them in the box and slowly opened them over time, slowly realizing that they never display better than they do in the box, because the box is the only thing keeping them standing upright! Seriously, take it as a warning if your figures all come with a stand - they won't stand up on their own! Final beef with Mcfarlane: at first the cards included had neat comic art on them and they were somewhat cool. Then the cards became just a snapshot of the action figure itself! To me, the card was like the art on a carded figure - helps with display of the figure because you look at the comic art and your imagination connects the action figure to the character. The figure snapshot card is just a useless slap in the face.
I totally agree. I have a couple of them and I generally like their sculpts, but some of their figures are frustrating. Their Injustice 2 Brainiac is amazing because of 100% new detailed sculpt top to bottom, but articulation is complete garbage. For some reason, I cannot stop posing the Rebirth Superman (the one with goofy Shrek smile and red boots), so some of his figures can still be fun. A good example of what you mentioned is Flashpoint Barry Allen classic Flash. He can pose enough, but he looks weird standing up, still looks weird in “dynamic” pose, and needs a stand to do anything. I tried to pose Flash like Amazing Yamaguchi Flash would, and it just can’t look dynamic, no matter how hard I try. Such a weird, underwhelming looking figure. McFarlane’s proportions are often wack.

I wouldn’t mind if McFarlane made 1/12 scale statues like how Kotobukiya did with DC ARTFX figures, tbh. Heck, they can have SOME points of articulation like the neck and shoulders, that’s it. I’d probably buy them all if they’re $20 each, tbh.
