The passage of time has always been dicey in comics with many characters that simply don’t age (is Petey even 40 yet?), but it all hits a little differently when you are watching an anachronistic motion picture meant to fit into a wider tapestry of films. I’m fine with the cast, but I have concerns now. I learned long ago to assume a neutral posture with the Marvel films to temper against disappointment, however, the FF is an important cornerstone of Marvel that I’m invested in NOT being screwed up because the title opens up so much more of Marvel as a gateway to other great characters.
I actually expect the movie will start out in the 60s with Reed doing his experiment thing. They develop the cast for the first third of the movie, they take off into space and find themselves stuck some sort of cosmic shower. When they come out of it, they return to Earth and it's 2025ish.
