Just realized I have not posted in here all month.

Let's see, I've been rewatching the Godzilla franchise. Have gotten through the first 13 movies so far. Great stuff.

The Raimi Spider-man trilogy. The first movie is a damn amazing film. I am not a fan of some of their casting choices, specifically for MJ and Harry, but Maguire is a pretty solid Peter and his Spidey in this film is great too. Norman, Jameson, and May are utter perfection. I am not a fan of the organic web shooters, however, as I just don't understand why they felt this was a necessary change when it diminishes Peter's scientific mind. Regardless, it's a solid first adventure that does so much right on top of providing the best Spider-Man soundtrack ever.

Spider-Man 2 is another solid adventure, albeit it an extremely flawed one. The plot of Peter losing his powers from a mental breakdown makes little sense and Dunst is even worse here than she was in the first movie. Molina is wonderful as Doc Ock and he gives a solild performance. The action scenes are top notch, especialy the one on the train despite the wonky CGI. It's fun and hits a lot of the right notes. The problem is some of the negatives really take away from the film as the acting is sometimes cringy while Peter rarely quips as Spidey in this one. Where are the hilarious lines like, "That's a cute outfit, did your husband make it for you?" to distract his enemies? He's almost silent throughout the film when he is Spider-Man. The other thing I have mixed feelings on is all of the Raimi-isms like the constant screaming in front of the camera to the sequence where Ock's arms are going Evil Dead on the doctors. Still, it is a very entertaining film and that shot of Peter when he has trashed his spider suit is perfection.

And the last one I have watched so far is the Editor's Cut to Spider-Man 3. Church was perfectly cast for Sandman while Grace is an utter embarassment for Brock. It's also weird because Robbie and Jameson already told us Eddie was working for them in the first movie, but then here is he working for them for the very first time. Not sure what the deal is with that, but okay. This movie is a mess, and while the Editor's Cut does make some very smart alterations, it doesn't fix the fact that this film is boring. MJ is completely unlikable in this film as she has become a complete selfish bitch. Harry's character is done better in this cut of the film thanks to a later scene being removed, however, this should have been its own movie. I honestly think the best parts of this film are when Peter is possessed by the symbiote because Maguire seems to be having so much fun pretending to be what a nerdy introvert would think being cool entails. I do like the casting for Gwen and her dad. It's just that there is so much crap crammed in here it's a mess, especially the final battle and those news report sequences are awful, pulling you out of the immersion. I have no idea why they thought they were a good idea. I will take it over almost every from MCU Phase 4 though.

Anyway, the way I would have done Spider-Man 3 would have had Harry giving Kingsley the gear to become Hobgoblin while he tries to figure his feelings out. He then comes to realize his mistakes and joins in on the final battle against Hobby, sacrificing himself to save Peter. Hobby gets away. This movie could have also introduced Eddie and his competitive nature with Peter. The movie would end with John Jameson going up into space.

Fourth movie features John bringing the symbiote back to Earth with Sandman trying to retrive it to make money for his daughter's operation. We can still have the whole revelation about Uncle Ben, driving Peter's emotions into a tizzy that causes the symbiote to bond with him. Movie ends with Peter getting rid of the symbiote and it attaches to Eddie.

Fifth movie Venom.

The Crow - I know nothing about the original movie beyond Brandon Lee died during filming, Sting dressed up as the character in WCW for like a year, and Trini from MMPR was in its sequel. As such, I have no history with the franchise to be blinded by nostalgia. With that in mind, oh my god, this movie sucked. It was a complete mess, especially in the first hour where random events were just happening and I had no idea what was going on.

First, it starts off with some girl yelling at another girl on the phone over some video, but we have no idea what this video entails. She gets arrested and then suddenly it jumps to Pennywise cosplaying as Jared Leto's Joker and he is in some prison and the girl is just there for some reason. They escape because the place has like no security outside at all and it seems like months go by of them making out and going to parties and camping while the villains act like only days have passed. Then they get killed and he goes to some realm that makes him a zombie man and he can travel back and forth between the two.

There's a villain dude who can apparently control people to kill themselves or kill other people, but he's not developed in the slightest and all we have is some throway line that he has been around for thousands of years. I guess he's Ra's Al Ghul with the powers of Purple Man or something. Anyway, the only good scene of the entire movie was Pennywise killing a shit ton of dudes at an opera house because for some reason the villains are there. The ending made no sense either, but by that point I was ready for the movie to be over. It truly is the worst movie I have seen this year, though I have not watched Borderlands and Hellboy yet, which I hear are worse. The acting was pathetically bad, especially from the girlfriend who dies. I feel like they just random saw someone walking past their studio and asked her if she wanted to be in their movie because they were desperate.

So yeah, unless you must watch this, do NOT waste your time!!
