Hasbro just has too much product anymore. With Marvel, Gi Joe and Star Wars, they just can't keep up with the demands. Maybe instead of doing a figure of Clegg Holdfast, the Rancor Keeper and others one hit wonders, like Ak-rev who we only saw for a split second, maybe they should have focuse more on characters with more screen time or more popular characters from the comics and books. Look how long it took them to do jacen and jaina figures that people had wanted for a long time.

The best thing they can do is drop a line...maybe Gi Joe. The new movie versions are okay, but they're just modern re-do of the same characters. Gi Joe had a great run, but the only thing I have seen from this line is an abundance of peg warmers. At least with Star Wars most of the new figures fly off as soon as they are put up...well except for Yarna Dal Gargan. The local Wal-Mart has at least of dozen of her.

The other problem is pricing:

Marvel Universe: 8.44
Gi Joe: 5.00 (and still nobody is buying them)
Star Wars: 7.46

With Joes you get ton of accessories (at least with some figures) and a stand. Star Wars you get the figure, maybe and extra accessory and a build-a-figure piece. And MU, you get a figure and a envelope with a card and a note. If taking out that useless crap would drop the price of the figure by a dollar or more, I may get into the line, but with the economy in the state that it is and the prices of the products, I can only focus on Star Wars. And now they are ending one of the best products in the line. Ditch the Galatic Heroes and use more of that time and money in what everyone really wants.

G.I. Joe is one of their own brands. The only reason none of the movie figures are selling is because the stores over ordered on the 1st few waves.

I'm not really surprised that the Star Wars comic packs are being cancelled. There were a bunch of characters I did not even know.

also to be honest compared to the normal figures the sculpts on many seemed rough and low grade.

I feel like I've been time-warped back to the mid-to-late 90's. Maybe the line can return as a fans' choice line some time in the future.

Um, you forgot Transformers.

Exactly. Same reason Transformers was never really dropped, even in the dark (yet brightly colored) times of G2.

Same here, but I knew most of them were from the comics and/or novels. Basically, it was a continuation of the original Expanded Universe comic packs released in the 90's (Prince Xizor, Darktrooper, Dark Jedi Luke, etc.)

I think a lot of that has to do with the source material. Novels provide little to no visual references for the sculptors. And even though comics provide far more visual references, the art is usually skewed by the artist so the details are more subjective.

Not to mention the fact that Hasbro/Kenner has had 26-32 years to perfect the sculpts from the original trilogy.

My only complaints is that they dumped the 25th anniversary line for the Movie versions that just don't have the same quality in my opinion. And for the comic packs, yes some were lacking the quality like the legacy collection, they were really improving. And I did forget about transformers...my bad. That just adds to what I was saying about their platter being too full.

It looks like that is pretty much what is going to happen.
Vote for Bastila!
THE GREAT STAR WARS FAN POLL!
Those are the only EU characters I know are from video games.

I think that the movie line has better range of motion AND quality(haven't had a broken ROC figure yet), but I do miss the 25th line as well.

The comic packs almost always seemed like shoddy crap to me. I went to Wal Mart Friday and, as it had been for half a year, the pegs for comic packs were filled to the brim with the Ewoks and Imperial dude who gets murdered with random alien.

There I am, filling another group of people someone already mentioned, a guy who has no idea who half of these characters are.

But then again, I did want 50 million versions of this figure, it's top of the line:

The main thing with the ROC figures are the loose legs, especially on the Reactive Impact armor Duke, Ripcord, and Heavy Duty.

It's a shame that the comic packs will be discontinued and that there are less Expanded Universe slots next year. The comic packs were a great way to introduce fans to the Expanded Universe, hell some of the Expanded Universe stories are better than the canonical stories within the movies.

Expanded Universe made the line more interesting.

Too bad they discontinued the Comic Packs. I was hoping to see my characters Tag & Bink some day in toy form. There's a guy who made a custom set somewhere, but still.
