I have zero need for Simpsons figures, but if Super7 ever do a "Homer reading Poe's The Raven" I won't be able to stop myself.

I can understand skipping core characters as that would lead to a huge drop off in sales once you started getting to more obscure renditions and side characters.

I will say in the show's defense, it has had its lulls, but recently I have found it consistently better than Family Guy. Though Bob's Burgers is my personal favorite of the Fox animated line-up.
Bob's Burgers has been utterly fantastic, although, I did think Season 11 had some weak episodes compared to what I have seen previously (S11 is actually the first season I have watched in full. I would love to watch other seasons, but they're not out on BD), but it was still damn hilarious, especially the episode where they burned down the kitchen.

Although, nothing can top The Simpsons from seasons 1-8.

but they could have had a wave with one family member plus three supporting characters and maybe the fifth figure can be an episode-specific obscurity just for fun. I'd like to think that would guarantee at least five waves.

like I said though, we'll have to see how this wave sells. if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

I think it's pretty obvious they wanna sell WAY more than 5 waves though haha

I just need a Maude Flanders to “complete” my collection. Still raging that the line was cancelled just before she came out. Even if she towers over Ned, i’ll make do

It was really seasons 3-8 that were the best Simpsons years. Seasons 1-2 were still finding their footing and still had Bart as the main character. Starting with season 3, Homer became the focal point and that’s when the show hit it’s stride.

And yes Bob’s Burgers is hilarious. I wouldn’t mind some Ultimates Bob’s Burgers figures.

Quoted for truth!
Those Simpsons seasons never feel tired. They stand the test of time. Unlike the knew episodes where they feel the need to push every piece of new tech of the day.

Season 5 remains my favorite, but I believe the best episode is the lemon tree episode. That sums up everything Simpsons to me. The THOH from those seasons are mandatory viewing every Halloween!

Ok, a modern The Simpsons toyline sounds pretty cool although coming from super 7, well, I don't find it that appealing. If at least the cost was $30-$35 per piece I think it would be easier to justify specially in the long term and taking into account the wide cast of characters that could be made.

yeah, me too. I'd rather see more Simpsons figures at this level of quality than a hypothetical ReAction line. still, I'm mulling whether to jump in. could be too early but I'd like to hear what they have considered for wave 2, maybe get an idea of the long-term plans (and how much cash I gotta budget).

though like I said, if I had to pitch a new Simpsons line it would be in the same scale as the Playmates stuff. even if 90% of the line ended up being re-sculpts of existing figures, it's not like the Playmates stuff was not beyond improvement. (did NECA ever say why they never did any additional Simpsons figures?)

I think they figure there's already a pretty good line that was done with a ton of figures. I think they're going for more off the wall stuff from 25 year old episodes to hit the nostalgia of the people that watched then.

Haha yeah they'll do as many waves of this as they're allowed to.

I love the lineup choices. If people really want plain figures of the main family so badly jump on eBay and get one of the versions produced by Mattel, Playmates, McFarlane or Kid Robot.
Nice to see a new company take on these characters and include some new variations from the usual choices.

But maybe the robots were eventually defeated, by...oh, let's say MOE.
The last line was a great reference that made me smile. Bonus point for you.

Interesting, have to agree a bit with some earlier comments by others. A regular Bart Simpson would have gone well here. Part of me would rather have a bit more obscure accessories for Moe, like give me accessories for Fan Man Moe and a Handsome Soap Opera Moe headsculpt too. Homer is very versatile so I'd probably wait to see what they'd do for a regular Homer. But yeah, that Super7 Price point is still a rough pill to swallow. Would be easier to justify it if the articulation is improved from the older figures we've gotten in the past.

I can appreciate the strategy in not including the regular clothed main family figures from the start... BUT you'd think each wave would at least include one of them so that by wave 4 or 5 we'd have the full family. With 2 waves in and just one-off variants of Bart and Homer so far, how many waves will it take to eventually get the regular main Simpsons family? 8 waves? 10? I guess wave 3 will be telling, but it wouldn't surprise me if it instead includes Marge in a police uniform or some other one-off variant like that.

Also I wonder if Super 7 will ever do an Apu figure, or will they follow suit with the show and ban him for being too politically incorrect now. On a related note, you gotta respect them for doing a Duffman figure with clearly marked beer cans and a Krusty with a cigarette in his mouth, neither of which would ever appear in retail toy aisles anymore in this current society of ours.

When the hell they plan to show the Godzilla Ultimates, it's the only stuff they could ever make me give them $55 per figure and wait up to a year to get it.

Probably when NECA finally reveals their plans for Hammer Horror, a license they acquired 15+ months ago and have done nothing with so far.

Yeah, I agree. I appreciate that Super7 is going for the long play here, but shit. Would be nice to complete the family in their main looks without having to wait several years.

These are great picks. I don't personally mind no main characters in regular outfits, I honestly don't think I'm going to get any of the actual Simpsons. With this wave I might be in for 3/4, I passed on the first wave.

I've been wondering that too. I swear last year they said they were going to show an Ultimate off at SDCC but we've only gotten the two (pretty cool) ReAction figures. I had some thoughts about it in general. They can't show off $55 figures that look and articulate worse than NECA's I think and maybe that's hampering them. I'd buy the other monsters but with having so many Godzillas in that scale (or close enough) already, I don't know how much I really need a similar one anyway.

And with the ReAction figures, Mezco got a license seemingly at the same time and is making them in a similar scale. They're big packs so you can't just buy one monster, but they're all painted great and look great.

Godzilla is definitely something Super7 loves, so I'm sure it's coming, but I am surprised again it's been this long and we haven't seen anything else.

The price if these are pretty steep, especially Power Rangers or TMNT, where I need to have a set.

I think it’s a shame Hank didn’t come with his reversed coat.

Wait, have they not done regular versions of the Simpson family yet?

Nope. Only 2 waves in and just Astronaut Homer and Bartman so far for the main cast. As others have said, it could be literally several years before we get the main family in their regular clothes if they continue this trend into waves 3, 4, 5, etc.

Krusty is tempting, if any of these are at that price and a scale I don't collect. Bartman is meh, how often does he do that bit?

Not having other characters to interact with is a thing with this deep cut selections before main cast approach. Hank Scorpio is fun, but there's no one he interacted with onscreen made yet. I Moe and Duffman connect.

For meme, surprised Chalmers and SKINNER! with steamed ham tray isn't there. Maybe wave 3.

Predict wave 3:
Superintendent Chalmers
Principal Skinner
Muscle Bound weightlifter Marge
Flashback WW2 Army Sgt. Abe "Grandpa" Simpson

I dont have an urgent need for regular clothes of the family. I'm really excited by the first two waves here. Especially this second wave. How sick is that duffman??

Also bartman was huge. that video was played all the time. with merch licensed on everything. And then the character has been a staple on simpsons programming and video games etc for 30 years.

I cant wait for lenny (white) and carl (black).
