I called this when they showed the first wave of Disney Ultimates. But what a random first series. One main character in a look he had for one episode, a recurring character in his classic look, and three one-off characters (one of which is a cartoon character who doesn't exist in the Simpson family's "real" world).
I can kind of make sense of Robot Itchy & Scratchy since diehard fans may want to buy multiples.

Very interesting. I never did get the WoS figures, save the THOH sets, but these are nice upgrades. I don’t know if Simpsons fans will do $55 a figure or not. I will pick a few but may not get the entire set.

Really nice job super7. I hope for futurama as well.

I’m not huge into reaction, but Simpsons and futurama seem perfect for that scale. I would bite.

Any TREEHOUSE OF HORROR items, and I’m in, no matter the cost!

No Bart?!?!?

That's like a wave of X-men without a Wolverine!

Strange choice for sure, one would think they'd complete the family first.

Seriously tempted, and I can't believe I'm saying this as someone who is up to their eyeballs in the Playmates sets as well.

I was thinking, if going this route, the next wave needs Barber Shop Quartet Homer with a Grammy, possibly also Colonel Homer, then include Frank Grimes.

I bash Brian Flynn sometimes, but he was clever here. He knew he had to make Poochie in the first wave so people wouldn't be asking "Where's Poochie?"

Though, the figure really needs a time machine.

I think they needed vacation Bart to interact with the robot Itchy and Scratchy.

But maybe the robots were eventually defeated, by...oh, let's say MOE.

They keep announcing stuff but yet are so far beyond on actual non Retro releases.

Where on Earth is wave 2 of Thundercats Ultimates?

Wave 2 is actually so far behind it's coming after wave 3. I forget the exact timeframe but it's something like wave 3 sep/oct followed by wave 2 novemberish..

I think these look great! I love that Supes is going deeper bench with some of the accessories (like NECA's cartoon TMNT). And just look at that inanimate carbon rod

Whoa! Super7 is on a roll. Although I agree with the majority on here: a highly questionable assortment for Wave 1. Moe is really the only must-have IMO. But I can see this line going for YEARS, especially if they're going episode specific renditions of characters.

I’d love to start collecting these but $55 a figure is just too much
Looks like they will have loads of characters given they’ve a couple one off characters already. I just dont have thousands of dollars

I only have two concerns: Price point (even with accessories, it's about $15 too steep), and THESE particular references. I mean please, go random, but all of these together is a bit too random. Moe being the first standard figure certainly is a choice.

But in general I'm pleased with this concept. Looking forward to the future of it. Seems they will keep to the prime era.

Would have preferred they release a standard set of the 5 main Simpsons family members, then branched out with everyone else in the future. Releasing such a random collection of figures with the first wave tells me they are planning to go deep, and I don't know if I want to commit to that kind of investment early on. If they released the 5 main family members first I would pre-order the entire wave, and then be more open to adding random figures like these in future waves.

count me in as one of those questioning whether it’s a good idea to start off with so many obscure choices. if this were NECA re-vamping the 5-inch line I could see the wisdom in offering stuff that hadn’t been made by Playmates (even if the Playmates line ended 17 years ago).

but with a new scale and far less figures per year, I would have stuck with just the main characters in their most well-known outfits (and that’s at least a few dozen figures right there). obviously if the line sells well enough to make more, this won’t be much of an issue.

I would also like to add that those issues aside, they are very nice looking figures.

I think Simpsons is a dead property which has alienated fans a long time ago.

I think if that was just a default Homer the wave would make perfect sense as far as aligning with Super7's MO. One main, one important side, couple of off-the-wall choices.

The Simpsons is one of Disney+ highest streamed shows and has managed to do well in reruns that not one but two cable networks air hours long blocks almost nightly.

Simpsons merchandise still does pretty well and there's at least two Simpsons themed attractions in the US that have one to three actual rides but are mostly centered on selling Simpsons plushies, Flaming Moe glasses, and Bort keychains to fans.

I don't think anyone feels alienated by the show and - as long as Super7 sticks to the classic era and doesn't continue to make seemingly random figure choices - this line should be fine.

The Simpsons has passed me by so I'll most likely skip this line. I would like a regular Itchy and Scratchy set though with blood effects and all of that though. There's just too many characters to seriously consider getting into it. Like if I get Moe, then I need (in addition to Homer) a Barney figure too. And without the bar Moe will just be standing there. Not having play sets will hurt it a bit I think, but who knows. They look great, and are still tempting.

If they did that there's a whole lot of people who would buy the first wave and nothing else. Almost all toy companies do this; string you along to keep you buying.

YUS.

Been looking for someone to do a new line of high quality Simpsons figures. Really just want the main family in their traditional look though.

They look cool, but not $50 cool. What an odd choice for a wave though. Like why not do normal versions before doing specialized ones first?

The accessories are fantastic.

I already PO'd with BBTS. I hope the heads are interchangeable with other figures. Astronaut Homer sold me with the screaming expression alone. Makes me wonder if that is how you will get certain expressions for certain characters.

I can understand skipping core characters as that would lead to a huge drop off in sales once you started getting to more obscure renditions and side characters.

I will say in the show's defense, it has had its lulls, but recently I have found it consistently better than Family Guy. Though Bob's Burgers is my personal favorite of the Fox animated line-up.
