Hi collectors,

I am (or was) an 1/6 action figure collector, mainly from Hot Toys. But I am stopping to collect those. For me, these figures are 1. getting way to expensive, 2. there accessories are to fragile, 3. they take a lot of room and 4. some of them deteriorate after a couple of years because of bad rubbers used (every collectors nightmare!!)

So, I bought some 7" Neca figures and I really like them. For the price they cost, I can buy easy 2 of each. I just hate that some of them come in a blister packaging, which once opened, can't be used anymore. I prefer figures which are sold in window boxes.

What do you collectors do with blister packaging? Open it or not? Or buy 2 of each?

Thanks,
Niels

Welcome to the board Niels! What collectors do varies from person to person. Some buy doubles while others just leave the figures in the packaging. However, I think a lot of folks on here throw away the packaging after opening the figure unless it's something special like a Comic Con exclusive.
If you are interested in 7" figures and want some superheroes for your collection, you could try DC Collectibles and Marvel Select figures.

Hey welcome to the boards man!!! I personally open them no matter what but if I really like the character like flash i will buy two one to open and one sealed. Have you looked at Dc collectibles or Marvel select they are also great lines for the price like what jwyss234 said.

I still prefer collecting 1/6 figures.
I do also pick up smaller figures here and there.. Like Mafex batman, or the upcoming figuarts turtles.. But I mainly focus on 1/6, specifically iron man armors. M

For me, I feel that I appreciate 1/6 and other higher end figures over time more than I do other things.

I would rather buy the upcoming hot toys diecast Mark VI, than use that money to buy 17 hasbro or NECA figures.

I have a lot of 1:6 scale Hot Toys and Sideshow figures and many are amazing. But they are getting way, way out of my budget these days. I'm starting to really like the 1:12 scale Mezco figures a lot. All the detail and accessories at half the size and less than half the price.

I want to like those Mezco figures.. But the fabric just doesn't look right to my eyes. It just doesn't seem to scale well for me.

I don't disagree. But I absolutely love the way the cape hangs on my Dark Knight Returns Batman. I also love the way the Starfleet uniforms fit on my Spock and Sulu. From the tops of their turtlenecks to the tips of their shiny boots.

I don't think the Star Trek figures look to bad. I'm just not a fan of the batman suit or the upcoming ghostbusters outfits.

I so so badly want to like the ghostbusters, but now I find myself hoping figuarts does a version of them.

My biggest drawback of collecting Hot toys is the rubber deterioration. Is there such thing with the 7" action figures which are mostly made out of plastic? I have here some figures from when I was a kid, they are at least 20 years old and are still in very good shape, despite there abuse!
