This week (so far) in toys. I went to the Midwest's largest toy show over the weekend and didn't buy anything. I was proud of myself.

Goes grocery shopping, buys toys instead.

Hey now. Let's keep disney far away from the Princess Bride, yeah? I'm already struggling to ignore that they now own Fox.

I have, more than once, gone into a store to buy toothpaste or some such thing, found some toys, got home…and realized I forgot the toothpaste.

I know the feeling. Reminds me of this scene.

It was really refreshing getting some preorders filled. There could have been more, but I've somehow managed to not go all in on the line. I'm only getting the core team and mutants, with a couple sprinkled in that I really liked as a wee lad, like Snowman and Grune.

Oh man, trust me I struggled quite a bit on that line, if they didn’t cost so much per figure I would certainly have collected the line. I am a completist, so I know if i start, I certainly would want at least the core team. Do you have the tank?

It's been a great week for you. It's good to see new toys. I collect the old toys of the Thundercats series and I need to find the main character. Good to see a neca toy. You also got one more house of 1000 characters. This character is very interesting. I'm thinking of adding it to my collection. Congrats.

I'm usually a completist, but as space has been dwindling, I'm doing my best to shrug off the OCD demons. The struggle is real.
No, I didn't go in on the tank. Being as expensive as it was and how I don't really have space for something that big, I couldn't justify it, as it would probably spend its life in its box in a closet.

The Captain Spaulding is pretty nice. The action feature doesn't work all that well, though.

i guess mobility is limited. It looks different in appearance, actually I'm more interested in chicken legs and buckets than the character. Small objects look very nice.

What do you think about the recent prices of toys and sculptures? I think there is a serious increase in prices all over the world.

The price increases on everything definitely hurt. The only thing that hasn't gone up is my salary. To that end, I have sold or am actively selling about a tenth of my collection. Awhile ago, I sold a bunch of stuff to streamline my collection a bit. Now, with prices going crazy and more and more product coming out, I've started selling figures I never thought I would. It frees up space for new stuff and sort of finances my collecting at the same time.

Where do you sell your stuff? I've been meaning to do that too, but shipping's way expensive on eBay, I tried Facebook Marketplace for local pickup but the market is really small, there's not that many people that are interested.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Prices are rising but salaries are not increasing. I generally find second-hand products more suitable, but since the toys that I need to buy new are very expensive, I have a lot of shortcomings in my collection. It is not easy to get new releases right away.

Another issue that is difficult for me is that when there are many hobbies, the number of objects you buy increases. For example, there are deficiencies in my vinyl records collection, but the prices are very high in that area as well. I find that even some CDs and cassettes are very expensive.

I hope everything will be better.

I used to sell on eBay, but the new tax laws have chased me away from there. I've had some luck on Craigslist in the past, but haven't tried there in a few years. I went down to the Kane County Toy Show last weekend, near Chicago and sold a bunch. That should tide me over for a few months until their next one in July.

I hear you. I collect books, CD's, art prints, Garbage Pail Kids stickers, and various other things. I've all but quit most of those.

eBay is still the best place for selling as you have more control over the item description and how to handle shipping than anywhere else. You can charge shipping separately, or if you offer Free Shipping, just make sure your price is high enough so that you're not losing (too much) money on the transaction. Amazon is filled with fraudulent third-party sellers and buyers, so it's not worth the hassle. Mercari is sort of a buyers' paradise as it's not well-known, so some sellers have agreed to below-market prices. However, it's easy to get shafted on Mercari as a seller because you don't get the money until after a buyer receives the item and rates you. If for whatever reason a buyer claims that he/she never got the item, you're screwed.

Good tips. Toy shows and toy stores are also possibilities, but people there normally know what they're looking at and will probably offer you only half of what something is worth.
