X-Men wouldn't work in the MCU, we'd get a really shoehorned and watered down version. The MCU has a very lush, detailed, and tight history, there's no room for mutants and really old characters like Magneto, Professor X, and Wolverine who have their own histories.

Yeah. It's funny how that's only a complaint when people don't want to like a movie. Anyone who still can't get over comic book movies making changes here and there should hate the MCU just as much. Spider-Man Homecoming included, even though I'm sure the changes will be ignored and the movie will be loved, make millions, and be hailed the best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2 (which it is, btw, just got back from seeing it. I think anyone with hang-ups still about the Vulture's movie look will give them up real quick).

Look who I found on our way to see Homecoming tonight:

![]() Oh my god, not only Homecoming the best Spider-Man movie ever done, but it is also one of the best MCU movies done thus far. This is downright amazing! Spectacular!! The ultimate Spider-Man movie experience. It is superior to all of its predecessors. Holland and Keaton just kill their roles. 10/10.

The movie was an entertaining high school/super hero story with the expected tropes of both genres, but not quite what many are making it out to be...this is coming from someone who is a long term Spider Man fan.

Tom Holland was solid, but can someone work on casting Michael Keaton in like everything? The man literally makes anything better... |

The smart thing would be to keep the names Gwen, Mary Jane/M.J., and even others like Felicia as far away from a high school Peter Parker as they can. If you really want to tell a Spider-Man story no one has heard before, that would be one of the easiest ways to do it.

Keaton is a man that chooses his roles carefully. Frankly him not being in everything is what makes it such a treat to see him when he is in a movie cause you know at least he's going to be great.

You may want to edit that post to Nite so as not to ruin elements of this film and future flicks for those that haven't watched Homecoming. Not that I care about stuff like that, but some people get very upset by spoiler-ific posts... |

Also, Betty is a high schooler too, so it makes sense for Ned to be one. As for Liz, we all know how this story goes as she ends up with Harry, not Peter. Either way, it doesn't matter because this movie was nearly a masterpiece. The best Spider-Man movie to date and I can't wait to see what they do with him in future installments. Just don't fuck it up Sony!

Yeah, I don't care either. However, I'm referring to the "faint of heart"....that bit you two were discussing was presented in the film as a 'thing.' EDIT: My apologies, Triv, et al.... Last edited by TheBlueMarvel; 07-09-2017 at 12:42 PM.. Reason: edited becuz' I'm dumb... |

Guys, can we please be careful with the Homecoming talk? I know everyone is excited but the movie just came out on Friday and not all of us has had an opportunity to get to the theater yet due to kids, work and life. I keep seeing characters being mentioned that I had no idea were in the film, and would like to have some sort of surprises left. I'm sure that there are others who would agree.

Homecoming didn't change anything. In the story, Ned was simply brainwashed and framed by the original Hobgoblin, Roderick Kingsley. On the editorial side, Roger Stern wanted to keep his secret identity a mystery and just kept throwing out red herrings until someone decided to end the mystery with Leeds for no reason. Stern had to retcon it later to show that it was Kingsley all along, with Kingsley being Sterns original choice for Hobgoblin.

No, he wasn't. He was never Hobgoblin. He was named intended to be Hobgoblin. He was only said to be Hobgoblin which was proven to be false. AKA, he was framed. Roderick Kingsley was and always had been the original Hobgoblin. Even in the original 80s run there were two different Kingsley's as the speech patterns were different.

Definitely not cool to spoil a movie that's been out for 3 days. There are other forums collecting dust around here that could house such discussions and details.
