Playmate's Enterprise was SUCH a letdown. "Highly detailed" my ass. The paint-apps were minimal at best. I loved it at first, but then I started letting the problems get to me. Such as the fact that the saucer section was skewed up and slightly to the side diagonally. I compare it to the older ships from Playmates like the Enterprise-D, Voyager, Defiant, and Romulan Warbird, and it just sucks. I was so glad to get the DVD-Enterprise for a good price. No lights, but at least it has good paint apps.

What happened to Hasbro getting the Star Trek license? Was that just to get one more license for the Kreo line? If so Im pissed. I thought for sure we would have gotten some kind of info on figures and or ships.

If Hasbro has any plans for anything outside Kreo, they have not announced it yet.
I was hoping for a titanium line, myself. But they may not be allowed to do titaniums, because of Hotwheels having their ships.

Supposedly, Hasbro IS going to do toys for the movie outside of the Kre-O line, but we haven't seen it yet. I hope so. Seeing how well they do with the Star Wars ships, I hope they'll do just as well with an Enterprise. So long as they don't try to give it silly gimmicks.

Star Wars is pretty much out of steam, and has been for a fair few years. I think even the hardcore fans are sick of the same characters over and over and over again. There's only a finite amount of characters and aliens in all 7 movies and can only be remade so many times. (The wells a bit deeper with the clone wars series)
Everywhere I go Star Wars is now one of the slowest moving lines. The well isn't just dry, I think it's dust, until Disney starts making new movies.

What I'd like to see is Hasbro cut Star Wars in half (So they still have a presence, and still get worthwhile stuff out), and have the energies of the Star Wars team rededicated to Star Trek.
I think that combination would benefit both. You have a team that's accustomed to making 3"-4" toys with actor likenesses, they already know how to do vehicles for that scale (Not that trek has many vehicles suitable. Just shuttles. Maybe a Millinium Falcon sized Runabout). Star Wars really needs a rest so it can rebuild itself, AND I don't think Star Trek has what it takes anymore to be a giant sized line. A smaller kid friendly but collector oriented line for both, with the same team working both, I think is what they need to survive.

Hasbro owns Galoob, right? I WANNA SEE NEW TREK MICROMACHINES!

Star Trek toys do much worse at retail than Star Wars. Look at what happened from the last film. I think the sales were poor for SW due to the large prevalance of prequel characters that nobody cares about.

Star Trek toys didn't do well at retail because 1) the packages looked boring so people weren't likely to go "OOOOO that's from the new Star Trek movie I want it!", 2) every figure in the line was absolute garbage, 3) the "playsets" were even bigger pieces of garbage, 4) the role-play items were absolute garbage, and 5) none of it appealed to either new fans, old fans, kids, or collectors in general.

EDIT: As for Star Wars, I wouldn't mind continuous re-releases of Darth Vader if there were actual improvements. The only figure I want out of Star Wars right now is the Mara Jade figure that may or may not have been cancelled.

Well, Star Wars has managed to keep content in theaters and on TV consistantly the last decade. The same can't be said of Star Trek. With all the new Star Wars movies coming out I think it will be bigger than ever the way Disney promotes stuff.

I specifically said "until Disney starts making new movies."
Also, I would disagree with the "Consistantly keeping content in theaters and TV" part. Trek has been far far more consistant with that, with twelve movies, and five television series (Six if you wanna count TAS), and has done so since the late sixties.
Meanwhile, Star Wars has seven movies, and one animated series since the late seventies.
On top of that, Trek's big boom has happened all within the same time as Star Wars, with only TOS outside of Star War's reign.

Trek is far more consistant.
And since Enterprise ended, aside from Clone Wars, SW has not had anything new to offer, either. Trek has had two more movies since then, and is right around the corner from their third.

I said this last decade. Trek basically vanished with the end of Voyager and Nemesis (no one really watched Enterprise). Star Wars was in the middle of the prequels and they've kept content coming ever since. Active content is what really drives toy makers because they know it is needed to move large numbers of toys to kids. If companies felt the sales would be there they would be making the products.

In the 90's when Star Trek had three series movies we they had a big presence in he toy aisle. I still remember having a few figures and a shuttle. Best of all I had the playmates Enterprise, Warbird, and Klingon cruiser. Those were fun as a kid.

And to be fair, Episode III came out AFTER the finale of Enterprise but it was in the same month I think. Again, no one watched that show and everyone at least knew Star Wars was happening. Star Wars always had a toy heavy focus and it was easier to make new Star Wars fans even when there was no new content. The three original films can be shown to a kid in a day. When Star Trek had faded you either had to track down reruns to show to the kids (out of order and pre-DVR) or buy the DVDs, and those were $100+ per season. Star Wars has just been all over the place. The animated Clone Wars, whole episodes of Family Guy and Robot Chicken. It's constantly in media in a way Star Trek hasn't been for years.

Also, what is the second recent movie you are referring to? Nemesis was in 2002 and then the reboot was in 2009. Am I missing something?

12 is Star Trek into Darkness, which is just months away.

Also, I disagree with everything you say, again. We'll just have to leave it at that, because I honestly don't give a shit one way or another. It's not trek starships.

I have to agree with ice man. Trek has been famous for being inconsistent. (Odd number movies bad, even number good.) And iceman has seen 9 theatrical sw movies with 6 announced and three animated series.
Treks big impact was tv. They were hella consistent there being present from 87-05. And I like enterprise.
But as you said none of it matters bring on the little ships. Trek easily lends itself more to micromachine scaled ships. Im happy with the Heroclix. So far they have more ship types than any other trek line in that scale. I really want the valdore from series 2 and the prometheus from series one.

I have to correct myself. Micromachines has a lot more than I remembered, though most of the later ones like the enterprise e and negvhar were impossible to get.

You should see my dads die cast collection. He's a collector of these( SW, ST, and Maisto planes), and will go to toy shows with me just to hunt for Star Trek Micro machines. Toy hunting is father - son bonding time in this family. I should get some pics up later

I think the reason for lack of Trek product is its content, Star Trek is more sublime and intellectual. its geared towards higher thinkers and adults. I love trek, and wars but lets face it most of the time in star trek people solve problems with there minds, not there lazer swords, kids want to recreate light saber duels, not laforge repairing a coolant leak, they want fast pace space ship battles, not two ships parked next to each other negotiating a peace treedy, they want lazer blasts and sarloc pitts, not older bald gents adjusting there shirts....

I have all of them. I only managed to get the E because I inherited a friend's collection when he decided to purge his trek stuff, though.

When I was a kid, I remember I got the entire first series, THEN they came out with a box set that had an exclusive E-A.
I wrote to galoob prasing the line, as well as presenting a wishlist of classes I wanted to see (All of them were eventually made!). And I also wrote about how I missed out on the A, because my parents wouldn't buy me a set of toys I already had. I wasn't asking for the toy, or really complaining. Just to put some content in the letter.
About a month later, there was a box in the mail, with the A in it.

So that was pretty dang cool.

I had I don't know HOW many Enterprise-As, both regular and pewter colored because the nacelles kept falling off. I did, however, find it pretty awesome when I discovered that I could remove the saucer sections from the Excelsior and Enterprise-B. Sadly, I passed up on one set that had the Jem'Hadar fighter and the Voyager shuttle in it and got the Playmates Voyager instead. Now, I loved the Playmates Voyager, but I do sort of regret that decision.

When I absorbed my friend's collection, I got the playmates DS9 and Defiant. He had the voyager, which I wanted, but he didn't want to part with it.
He sold it to someone else a few months later. >_<

Yeah I would love more Micro Machines as well, but at some point they converted their Micro Machine Galoob into their Titanium versions of things those underdetailed little ships and the Transformers ones.

Not sure what they are doing now.

There was also the 80's fasa lead figures. The Romulan Nova is in my top ten of ship designs.
Also there were the star fleet battle minis and several hallmark ornaments though they were
About a quarter the micromachine size.

I also think a huge obstacle to a trek micro machine resurgance is the fact that the vast majority of rhe ships per current cannon now never existed.

I don't know what there is to disagree with. It's just facts. I'm not debating which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars, I'm just explaining one major reason Trek toys haven't had a major presence like they did in the 90's when there were 3 shows and movies all the time. Toy companies want media to help sell their toys.

I thought the new movies are supposed to be an alternate universe? As in, the old stuff still is valid but they are just exploring a different take.

No future Klingon cruiser from "All Good Things..."? Why is it this ship is always ignored?

They are in an alternate universe, but so many fans still feel butt-hurt that JJ Abrams had the audacity to make a movie with a young Kirk and Spock that they refuse to see that.
