Star Wars Monopoly seems like the one thing I need of this.

$15 for a 3.75inch figure? you've gotta be high Hasbro, HARD PASS!

These are great. I'm really bored with going to the store and seeing just 3.75 and 6" figures on the shelf.

$15 for the 3.75" isn't too bad. You have to consider that you are getting a base with the figure, which I wish more toy companies would start doing.

Star Wars Unleashed from the early 2000's is one of my favorite lines ever so this new line has me intrigued. I've been waiting for some affordable small scale staction figures from star wars.

Just noticed that for $15, not only do you get a figure and a base, but also an effects piece.

Im down with the centerpiece joints, somewhat. If I could get it without lights/sounds, and without the figure, for half the price, I'd be in x 10.

That is one HUGE base on that Black Series Centerpiece figure...it's not just a centerpiece, it'll take up the whole shelve!

Really, Hasbro?

In an age where people prefer their Star Wars figures to be a bit more articulated, THIS is what you dish out for the 40th anniversary?

A ton of non-poseable figures!?

And made of metal, to boot?

WHO

CARES

ABOUT

IT

BEING

METAL!?

Just give us some proper figures! You know, to compliment the collections that we already have!?

Remember, we also live in an era where statues have never been more popular with collectors. Everyone and their grandmother is making statues now and selling for......$200 to $1000+. That's more than most collectors can swallow. The way I see it, these are affordable statue pieces for display for the average adult collector. I for one think these will look nice on display as "centerpieces" of my star wars collection. We are still getting the 3.75 and 6" figures for everyone else. Why not diversify a little?

The $49.99 price point though...ouch. I kind of like the light effects but I think I speak for most adult collectors that nobody gives two sh!ts about sound effects, which only increases the cost and the price to consumers.

I was excited to see what they had in store but I'm gonna pass on all of this. The only positive I see here is the price, which is fairly friendly to collectors.
  • How many Monopoly sets do people need? Boring.
  • Who cares about metal figures? Disney is pushing those in their store and most of them aren't worth it. The Black Series counterpart is usually better in almost every respect.
  • The Black Series lightsabers are fine for Vader/Anakin/ANH Luke but they don't work for RotJ Luke or ANH Obi Wan because the neck near the emitter is fat and all wrong. The blades are also not removable. Yuck.
  • 3 3/4" statues with bases?

There's a reason I am mainly buying SH Figuarts, Mafex, and Bandai model kits now. All of this stuff seems aimed at very casual fans, not long term collectors.

HARD PASS.

I was curious about the die cast figures and now that Ive seen them, I'm disappointed for the most part. I was hoping for actual action figures...I guess something like smaller scale Elite series figures with better articulation. This is more like twice-up Micro Collection figures hahaha (anyone remember those? I had the Bespin playset, it was epic.)
Anyway, I'll definitely be picking up Vader when its on Amazon for $6 and theres supposed to be a TLJ Phasma later in the year, which I will be getting and thats it. I'm amazed how out of touch Hasbro is with their audience.

^ That, in spades. This seems like going out on a limb, although I wouldn't mind a few of those bases without the figures.

I wonder how much of what we're seeing is in fact demand-based, rather than a kind of industrial herd behavior like what we saw back in the 1990s with Prestige-Format comic books. Remember all the gimmicky covers and multi-variants and promotional junk and hype in those days? ...And the sector consolidated shortly thereafter, right? I'm not saying that the same dynamic is at play here, but considering the soaring rate of consumer debt and the disappointing reports about retail sales in general, one has to wonder.

If Hasbro really wants to please collectors, they would follow the Diamond Select model. Think about it, a company a fraction of the size of Hasbro sells a figure for only $5 more, gives us a 7" scale figure with superior sculpt and paint apps, more or less the same articulation, plus a detailed base or diorama piece, plus accessories, all in a more detailed package that is 3 times the size of a SW Black series package. All of that....for just $5 more.

If you ask me, the black series is garbage and collector bait. $19.99 is insulting for what we get. For those who want more figures from Hasbro rather than these options, I would be asking for a better action figure. For me, I'm just grateful that I have different product options and the black series can remain on the pegs, kind of like it already does.

No interest in this at all. My main problem with the figures they are doing in the 3.75 scale right now is the horrible articulation and these have even less.......

I don't know about you guys but I really want to see someone start making collector focused "play sets" or diorama set pieces to display our figures in. That is what I would have loved to seen for their big 4-0

Unfortunately, unless they're pretty small ones, I'd imagine they'd be preeetty expensive, and might not sell well (see: Black Series First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter).

I mean for the 3.75 scale figures. I think if they made generic diorama's like "ruined building" and such and focused them at collectors they would do quite well.

I can understand why Hasbro brought back the Titanium vehicles series, but back when Hasbro initially released the Titanium figures, about a decade ago, they sold poorly and largely ended up in stores like Ross and TJ Maxx.
Do the decision makers at Hasbro seriously predict different results this time around ?
