I would think that if they were going to release a 40th anniversary Darth Vader they would go with the classic look or extra heads, or hands or something besides a stand. Underwhelming.

Well it is his original look. The sashes are going over the breast plate, his eyes are red, and the back of his gloves are segmented.

This figure is an entirely new mold compared to the first. Not only is it based on his look from ANH instead of ESB/ROTJ (which means multiple minor details including the sash/tabard/whatever goes over his shoulder armor instead of under), it also has a helmet sculpt that actually looks good.

All of the 40th anniversary has been an underwhelming sleight of hand. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of an outcry about the Vader set in particular since they're basically charging people the cost of a figure for a cardboard sheet and a stand.
Or maybe that will come later when they rerelease that new Vader in the box later this year.

Personally, I think it would've been better if they had done a boxset of "Kenner" variants. Alter pre-existing figures from the 6 inch Black series to match the Vintage line. Stuff like Luke's yellow lightsaber and stuff like that.

My Local Target had all their Black series $10 with a extra 20% so I was able to get 4 At act troopers and 4 Death Troopers for less then $70 for all of them.

Finally my Space Walls "Blast Doors" came in. So dang excited to finally get them!

And don't forget those treacherous ledges running around them- If I had these in my house I would be doing this every damn day...

I mean, apparently, one aesthetic element George intentionally infused throughout Star Wars (at least in terms of the Empire) was that there are no guardrails. The Empire does not care for workplace safety, according to him. So you actually hit the nail right on the head.

The Emperor abolished space OSHA pretty fast, it was order-67 I guess. Also Darth Vader regularly kills his employees so they had to toss space OSHA and the HR department.

Watch that bulkhead Darth!!!

Great pics, those backgrounds look REALLY nice.

So excited to pick up a Saw Guerra figure!!! At least THIS time for the Rogue One box set they were all new figures. The Force Awakens set only had Maz as a new figure, and repeats of Finn, Rey and BB-8.

Look what I just got~

I went around to a couple Targets today. First one I asked at, they looked up the DPCI and said it's not supposed to go on sale until the 16th, so they couldn't bring it out for me. Second one I go to, they go and get a case (there was also another person asking for one). I'm so happy.

I had posted this on the 40th anniversary thread as well, but I thought that I would post this here as well in case someone might miss it, but there is a new hope for those of you out there who want the new Leia without having to resort to tearing her out of that 40th anniversary collection packaging...I came across this unicorn today at a local toy swap meet being put on by my LCS...

It looks like the revised Leia headsculpt that Hasbro promised is not going to be exclusive to just the 40th anniversary line, and it looks like they are actually going to follow through with the basic Black Series line as well. So if you happen to see #30 while rifling through pegs in stores, do take a moment to actually take a look at the figure in the package, as it might just be the revision.

While I'm still not thrilled with having to buy a new figure for this revision, it is what it is...at least I can use the box from this new Leia to resell my old one, and make back a bit of the cost. Who knows, maybe "cosplayer Leia" becomes a highly valued variant ten years from now, rivaled only by "half circle" and "full circle" POTF Boba Fett...lol.

I made sure to open these surgically to preserve the cardbacks. The hunt for R2 continues.

An exacto knife and a steady hand. I have the box flat on a table and I slowly go around the perimeter of the bubble holding the exacto so that the handle is basically flat against the cardback. Patience is the key and of course if I try going too low it risks cutting into the cardback beneath the figure.

So I stopped at several Targers and Walmarts throughout Nebraska, Kanasis, Misouri, Iowa, and Minesota when we were there and can you believe not a single one of them had ANY 6inch wave beyond the first Rogue one wave?

Knowing how stores keep 6 inch figures nowadays, they're probably stocked to the brim with the older stuff.

The system REALLY needs to be updated.

Thought I should leave this here as well.

Found today at GameStop. They just received their 40th display shipper filled with earth Vader early bird sets and the titanium 3 3/4 figures. Only 2 of the exclusive came in. But they are hitting now.
