I think Chefatron got it for $20 whilst on a trip to the US.

It was a little while ago during one of his haul videos that I heard that, so I may be wrong there.

Honestly there's not a good reason for it to be $40 and I do feel a little ripped off for my impatience in that regard. The Vader figure is by far the best in the scale but the display piece is nowhere near $20 in value. It's just a series of plastic bases with pegs and an overarching plastic border which holds the cardboard display. Here's from Toyark's gallery of the set:

Regarding the sale price, I haven't seen anybody actually put it on sale yet but since every store that has them is clogged with them a sale is inevitable. My guess is that Walmart will probably knock $10 off to clear them out and at $30 I would say it's a definite pick up.

People are picking it up for $20 if you find the right Wal-Mart. I have seen numerous individuals who have found it at that sale price

New Vader on the left in both pics:

I think the old Vader's head in this first pic is a repainted one of the Walgreens Exclusive "Emperor's Wrath" Vader with the translucent head.

EDIT: the ToyArk gallery for New Vader from back in April is a good look at how good the new helmet looks in lighting more similar to the movies:

The 40th Vader is supposed to be available in the Black Series box( at regular Black Series price) for Force Friday this September. So not too much long of a wait.

I think you are probably right about where the ESB/ROTJ head came from.

Thanks. I bit the bullet and bought the backdrop and Vader at full (UK) prices, but I want to be able to open the Vader for the display so I hope you're right.

Yeah, that Vader is VERY impressive. Normally, seeing a 6 inch figure in the box at the store just strengthens my resolve to avoid the scale, but that Vader legitimately looks awesome.

Well, this video is kinda long, but some constructive criticism would be nice.

Retroblasting doesn't understand modern collecting-Ben_ToaofFire - YouTube

It's technically a Star Wars video, so that's why I'm sharing it here.

Hey everyone,

I suspect that a lot of us are picking up the 40th Anniversary figures because of the nostalgia/vintage-style cards. I'm planning to put mine on the wall to display. Before I do that though, I wanna pick up some cases for them.

That said, which protective cases fit these cards? Anyone know?

Thanks!

Hmm, I dunno. If there's an official case designed for them, go with that, but maybe you ought to find cases for Mego figures?

The cards for the 40th figures are ridiculously huge, though, so I don't know.

My local Walmart put the Legacy pack Vader on sale so it's $30 now, a much more reasonable price than $40.

I was going to ask that same question. They're a limited run meant for display value, but they need some kind of protection. Might have to go with specifically designed acrylic cases - which will be expensive.

Saw a 40th Jawa at Target today... I wonder if it is possible to see a Jawa fig on the peg and not make the Jawa noise in your head.

And wow... that Padme is awesome. O_O

What are people hoping to see from SDCC this year? Personally:

6" Iden Versio, Grievous, Padme, Ezra Bridger, Zeb and Chopper

More details about the new 3.75" Vintage Collection.
