I guess we can't make new threads in star wars?

Anyway, What do you guys think is the best R2D2? I haven't gotten a new one. Mine is the PotF original from 1995. He still scales well with newer guys.

Looks good, but needs some weathering to bring out the details- just some light black enamel wash or some brushed on pastel chalk(or both) would make he really stand out.

No hope for Qui Gon though- they mde his head too damn small! He's a bit short too- Liam Neeson is like 6'4!

I never liked the figure, he was the first star wars I opened because I wasn't sure how I liked the new articulation. I'm opening all mine though when I get a little shelf like my others. I suck at painting though (really shakey hands )

No need for steady hands with weathering- just brush on whatever and have a paper towell ready to wipe of whatever excess- the more you leave on, the dirtier the subject stays.

You could also use women's powder-based makeup for great weathering effects- same technique- brush it on and wie off the excess, then seal it with dullcoat spray.

I like the 30th Anniversary Collection version with lights and sounds. You can find him in stores now in some version of the white package stuff (Legacy Collection or whatever--the repack series).. and don't quote me on this, but I think the one in stores now has some weathering on it (original doesn't).

Since it's never an issue of articulation with R2, I just like that you can press a button and hear a few classic Artoo beeps and boops. His "legs" and "ankles" are articulated so you can pose him at any angle you like.. and that's all the articulation he needs. I like Jason's weathering idea too.

I don't think the head moves on that one, does it?

It doesn't move. I believe he's looking slightly to his right.

I like the VC version too because he comes with so many accessories, but that electronic version is still my favorite.

He is. He was hard to find in his initial release, and he was repacked in the armored Savage wave, which never saturated at retail.

I setup my star wars guys. I'm gonna take pics and show you guys here in a bit.

LOVE my bossk, IG-88, snow trooper pack. I just dont get why its helmet comes off. The head looks like jango fett, but I really like the new scale of storm trooper blasters. The PotF ones were huge in comparison

I just got (my best friend bought it for me!) the BEST FIGURE Star Wars has ever made!
Mandalorian Rholan Dyre is a marvel of detail and articulation!
He's got torso, wrist, knee and elbow swivels, ball joint head, his blaster has a holster, his knife a sheath, his jetpack is removable and so is his helmet!
He's completely comic-accurate- right down to his facial scars!

If you're unfamlliar with the character, he's from that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comic I'm always going on about.

If he had hip swivels, I'd pray to it!

I see. There were three if them so I thought he was common like Wolf or Rex. This was the same place I found five armored Savages though.

Which Luke do you people think is the nicer figure? Articulation is identical.

I'd probably lean towards the Jedi Knight version (on your right) because he has the black hand, but I think both are very good representations of Luke. I probably like the Jedi Knight head sculpt a little better, but not by much.

Death Star II Duel Luke is more accurate. Luke's hair is parted the wrong way on the other figure. Plus, the DSII Luke has more display options. Just the better figure all around. I wanna say it's the best Luke made, but I'm impartial to the Bespin fatigues outfit, and the Vintage version of that figure is my favorite Luke ever.

I prefer the DSDII version of Luke, but I wouldn't mind picking up the other one if I could ever find the damn thing.

That's a hell of a sales pitch. Is it a single pack release and for which series, Saga/Legends or VC?

I'm sorry, but I can think of quite a few figures better than him. Especially in the Vintage line.

And he was from the last wave of comic packs that were EE exclusives.

And there probably are, but not that many can carry all of their accessories at once and not look silly.

Bummer. I was hoping I could find him at retail. I'm not about to go to the secondary market for a Star Wars figure. Those days are long behind me.

It was an Entertainment Earth exclusive comic pack- they go in Amazon for about $18.
There's another two pack two two Mandaloriian dudes in it (not familliar with those characters though!)

$18 is tempting, but I still worry that it will make me fall off the wagon again. Restricting myself to brick-and-mortar helps keep my SW purchases to a select few (and only if there is nothing else I want at the time).

HA! I'm soooo right there with you! These are my first SW figures since I was a kid and I sure dont want to go the "one of everything" route I've done with Marvel Universe!

But I got hooked on the KOTOR comics and these characters are from that amazing series- it's got all the action and heart of the OT, with a real hero facing impossible odds and teaming up with a craxy eclectic group of friends along the way.

In short, it's Star Wars with all new characters, baby!

Figure wise, these are far above the quality of even the Saga Legends figs- those are somewhat hampered by having to match the look of real character from the movies whereas the comics allow more leeway in some ways-

For example, Tarkin does not need super articulation, so he does not get it- same with detail- the comics figs have tons more details because the medium of comics requires more visual design elements to hold interest, and Hasbro has done a great job matching it all! More details equal more great stuff on a Mandalorian- the jetpack alone is amazing- on par with the best GI Joe accessory.

Thinking on it, it's like Boba Fett- Lucas saw im as a minor character and was suprised at his popularity- but it's because of all the cool stuff he has to look at that makes him outshine most of the OT heroes.

Anyway, this pack is an amazing addition to any collection- because Hasbro has strangely not made the series hero, Zayne Carrick, I'll have to custom one up- which will require buying a couple of more SW figs...oh no....

I dont have a problem- I can quit whenever I want!

Ebay occasionally has him loose and single- just make sure he has all his swag- some chinese sellers have sold Jarael (the fig that comes with him) loosee but missing her shock staff (which looks very cool with it's two clear blue parts).

Still, as happy I am with Rholan Dyre, the upcoming Vader will beat all other figs!

Cool- who are they? I'm looking for coolness factor, articulation and accessories. Aurra Sing (my best friend has) is cool that way.

I put up my star wars stuff. Been MOC for awhile until I could figure out what to do with them. I Really like the new star wars figures. Last time I held a SW fig, it was when I was a kid and PotF was new. Still have my old R2D2. One guy I don't like, grevious. He's retarded. I don't like how hes got karate chop action or whatever, I wonder if the vintage card is better

My favorites: Bossk, IG-88, Darth Maul, Darth sidious, Tusken Raider.

I love the detail on everything, the clothing and stuff with maul and sidious is amazing.

I want to collect pretty much every jedi / sith and all the bounty hunters

Hope you guys enjoy!

That's like saying you only want the Avengers and X-Men!

Looking at your figs, you've already broken with your plan!
A question about Jango- I dont recall his outfit being so purple in the movie-
Am I right that it should be more blue in color?
