Maybe her popularity has drastically fallen since Disney's acquisition of the Star Wars license because when that poll started I imagined Mara Jade would be the easy winner based on her popularity prior to the new movies. I was quite wrong. Revan actually does have the potential to become canon again very easily and no longer just part of the Legends section. Since he predates all movie activity by thousands of years he could be reinstated with no major alterations to his character in a similar fashion to Darth Bane's appearance on the Clone Wars cartoon. Other things from KotOR have been pulled into canon already too (like the old republic hammerhead starships) so Revan wouldn't be an unbelievable push.
It wouldn't be shocking to see Mara Jade become canon 'again,' even if she's not popular right now. After all, Rebels has been more or less in the business of cherry-picking and re-canonizing stuff from the EU/Legends, the most significant being the introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn in the current season (whose name I'd heard a lot less in SW fan circles, despite being a 'hot' character). The comics have been doing the same, to a lesser extent.

Either way, I'm hoping we see the occasional EU/Legends character pop up in the line - I'm not a huge fan of the EU, but there's characters I have a soft spot for that I'd love to get. Mostly ones from the games, both good and bad - I'd be plenty happy to add Dash Rendar, Prince Xizor, Arden Lyn, and Starkiller to my collection.

No wonder no-one took Mandalorians seriously after the last noteable example went around spray-painting her armor like a graffiti artist.
I hope later on in Rebels, Boba Fett will hunt down Sabine. That's a job he would even do for free for tarnishing his legacy (real life chronology-wise, that is, since the whole Mandalor thing started with his character)

Sabine is a better character than Boba Fett ever was.

Dave Filoni all but ruled it out at SDCC sadly.

Sabine is more of a character than Boba Fett ever was, period (at least in more accessible media, like movies and tv shows).

Shouldn't be to hard to make: 2 repaint droids & Aphra could certainly use some Jyn Erso parts...
Seeing how Hasbro's handled The Black Series so far, they wouldn't reuse parts unless they'd be literally brain-dead stupid not to. That's probably part of the reason the paint budget is so low, to be honest. The only things for which they've ever reused molds is troopers and droids, and even then, they remold any part that's not exactly the same between the in-universe examples of the new figure and the one the new figure is based on mold-wise. So Aphra would probably be a completely new mold, and they'd definitely make at least a new head for BT-1.

Yeah, seriously. When I was a much younger fan, I was on the Boba Fett hype train hardcore, and thought he was the coolest thing since ice cream. Looking back on it, I still think he has a cool design and a certain mystique to him (putting the Legends stuff aside), but he's really not that 'awesome' of a character, where he has character. Hell, Clone Wars gave him more character than any of the films did.

Pretty much every other character from Mandalore or with Mandalorian ties has more character than Boba. That's the long and short of it. I'm sure he'll get some new expanded character that's in-line with the current streamlined canon (given his long-standing Ensemble Darkhorse status), but until then, he's definitely more of a 'looks cool and that's it' character.

Eh, things are never set in stone, and I'd be perfectly fine with Jade showing up in media aside from Rebels, too. Either way, I doubt that they'd completely abandon her if there came a good opportunity to use her in a story.

I miss the mystique that used to swirl around Fett. That whole contrived "Jango" business turned my stomach, it was so lame.

That infuriating need to spend three movies forcibly intertwining otherwise-unrelated sub-plots and character origins and force the new, clumsy albatross down our throats is one of the main reasons why I found the prequel disappointing. (The origin of Vader stood out as particularly weak. People don't 'become' psychopaths; they either are or they aren't.)

Anyway, like you, I still love the Fett character design. I wouldn't mind a nice, well-sculpted Mandalorian helmet for another display prop.

Anakin was always a psychotic, just not a very well portrayed one. Oh but did you know he also built C-3PO?! Y'know, just because. Oh and Yoda knew Chewbacca back in the day, because.

I disagree. It's understated and not very overt but, practically every scene with Boba in Empire is showing clearly defined character.
It's implied that he's a shoot first, ask questions later-type with Vader's "no disintegrations" comment and that gets shown later on with him about to fire on Chewie and Vader stoping him. There's also the bit with him hiding in the trash to tail Han and pretending he didn't hear Luke in the hallway at Bespin..showing that he's pretty sneaky and calculating. And his dialogue with Vader shows he clearly only cares about money.
It's pretty much all laid out there, what he's about.

It shows those aspects of him, sure, but that's like three bullet points on a D&D sheet, rather than a 'clearly-defined character.' And if those points are all there is to him, then he's a pretty flat character.

I'm not saying he has to be deep by any means, because he serves his role in the story well. I just think that using him as a barometer to measure other Mandalorian characters by is pretty weak, because a lot of his strength is from his design/presence and the impact of his actions, not his character and personality. Which is relating to the original point here:

All those elements can be applied equally to Han's and Leia's characters too, and no one is going to argue they and Boba Fett share the same personality. There are some little hints as to how he operates, yes, but nothing about who he actually is. For that reason as Boy Blunder says pretty much every Mandalorian character with a name and any screen time is a better character than Boba Fett. Fett is a triumph of style over substance, we love him because he looks cool, but that's all their really is. Even with his appearances in The Clone Wars and the new canon comics we know very little about adult Boba.
