Well that's a bit of a bummer. An upgrade accessory pack for this of us that have the first version would be cool.

I skipped the first one because I was fairly positive this version was coming. Still, something like a snow-frosted paint job would've been nice to actually distinguish the figures for people who jumped on the first but want this one's accessories.

First one is currently in my PoL. Was surprised to see this one. But hey, I can do an early movie scene and a late movie scene I guess.

Of course I'll be picking this up - The Thing is my favorite movie ever, so how could I not - but I really hope NECA doesn't kill this line like they've done with other licenses (Crash Bandicoot, It) with countless releases with only incremental upgrades/changes. I'm really hoping for some other characters from the movie and a few different versions of The Thing itself.

We've been waiting for you to get this license for a long time, NECA. Don't fuck this up.

I expected multiple figure releases, so I'm not too bothered, I need these in my life and if buying multiple releases makes more figures come out, then I'm in.

I would love to see NECA explore more human characters, I'd for sure pick up Childs, Palmer and Windows if they started expanding on the cast. I'm still expecting they'll do a third MacReady from the finale with a snow effect paint job and a couple new accessories like a single stick of dynamite and the blasting cap. I could for sure see them do a couple deluxe packs featuring different creatures like the Norris spider and the dog thing, then the final form. If they only do one or two new figures it ought to be some Things.

I can definitely see them doing Childs at least, but not sure how the other characters would sell. I personally would love a Blair figure myself.

Yeah, and don't forget the sticks of dynamite he has taped to his chest. That would be a pretty cool version of Mac to have, I must say. But version 3 should be the last, and then they should move onto other characters and Things.

Getting a Palmer Thing would be so awesome. Probably one of my all time favorites. You could get a few different heads in different phases of transformation. That would be one gruesome but totally awesome figure.

I have always seen that referred to simply as the Norris monster because the head spider is separate and more easily named.

I think it would be cool to see NECA do an accessory set type release with the mangled Thing first found frozen at the Norwegian base, the one with its face splitting into two. It couldn't be a figure since it's a non-articulated being but it would be a great prop for display.

Technically it could be articulated if they do figures from the weak ass prequel.

That's actually a really great idea. You could have a base Palmer figure with interchangeable heads and forearms, since unlike most of the other Things in the movie he doesn't really have a chance to undergo a full-body transformation.
