I don't see how working in a movie theatre and having an opinion on movies is simmilar to what I was talking about.

I answered your question. If you don't like the answer, then that's too bad because you won't get any sympathy from me on the age issue. <shrugs>

No matter what age an individual enters the workforce, you have to have a good work ethic and a positive attitude. The management and customers always know when an employee is there just to take up space. An employee should do their job to the best of their ability.

I agree that the level of customer service has fallen off in recent years at brick-and-mortar stores. And it's gotten to the point that it's pretty pathetic in my opinion.
Exactly, couldn't have said it better myself brother.

EDIT:
I think I'm starting to sense a bit of back and forth (joking or otherwise) going on here, lets just be civil and move on guys, before it turns into something it's not.

I can see how a movie usher and a stock boy can be similar, but I also see where they are vastly different. I used to work at a Blockbuster, so my job was a combination of the two (including the cleaning). Either way, I would try to help where I could, but would find someone else to help if I couldn't. I also kept the fact that I couldn't stand my store manager to myself, even when she would take 3 hour smoke breaks in her car in the parking lot while I was the sole employee actually IN the store (which was against store policy). It really sucked when I had to walk out to her car and practically force her to come back in the store so she could do an override on a price match.

While that may be true, no one should ever let negative feelings about their job affect their job performance. Sure, you may think that your job sucks, your co-workers are assholes and the management is clueless. But the customers don't care about you or how your day is going. All they want is for you to help them with their problem.

Sometimes, some people [customers] need a good slap in the face. Sometimes two! =3.

That is very true, but for an intelligent adult, being trapped in a cycle of wage slavery can be very discouraging. It is hard to find a job you can somewhat enjoy and stick with these days.

What a joke, at the same time, really pisses me off. The ignorance if some people is amazing.

All too true. Just don't be the one to give it to them. That's why I have to believe in Karma.

Totally understand that. My current employement is the 7th job I've had since I started working when I was 16-17 yrs old and it's exactly what I wanted in a career. My co-workers are great and I get to do what I love for a living. My wife, OTOH, has had at least double the number of jobs and still hasn't found something she was truly happy with.

There are all types of fanboys/girls out there. Even if it's just to be the hip minority or simply to be contrarian. Of course, there's always a chance that they could honestly be happy customers.

I've said for a few years that every retail employee should be allowed to shoot one customer a year for being a dick.
And no customer at any time is allowed to know who's used their one shot that year.

I think the world, especially around christmas time, would be a lot more pleasant place.

Twisted, but I like it.

I know this thread is pretty much dead and buried, but I wanted to pop in here and apologize to Optimus Vader. Outside forces kinda messed with my life, and I didn't realize how bad things were, and I honestly forgot all about the deal after my home was broken into.

But no excuses- My fault for forgetting, and I offered an immediate refund. It doesn't change my mistake, but hopefully fixes any slant he has endured.

I wonder if it is too late to return my copy of Wrong Turn they refused to take back several years ago.

Oh shit, its already open. I guess that isn't a possibility then since... Best Buy is closing.
