Huh… the issue I have with the headsculpt is not necessarily that it is simply too small as I feared at first, because the game itself does that to an extent, but it’s just an overall inaccurate sculpt with less than ideal paintwork.

The plastic cape is disappointing as well. I do like King a lot, but this figure isn’t for me.

Storm's stuff is slightly stylized and simplified, so I don't think the slight difference in detail is too big a deal. I think paint-wise that super intricate pattern would be extremely difficult to pull off on a smaller figure.

The head looks like it was designed to look more like an actual mask than a realistic Jaguar head. I am o.k. with that decision. It also captures the look of the earlier King designs from the old arcades. I am not sure if that was intended, but it does hit the nostalgia bone.

It would have been cool if he came with a cloth cape, but I am not sure how the logo on the back would be executed. Storm Collectibles doesn't deal with cloth, so they probably would need a separate factory for producing a cloth cape, and that would be expensive.

Overall, I dig it, and I will definitely be picking this up.

They've done soft goods attires for their figures before and more specifically they made a cape for their Jushin Thunder Liger figures. It added a lot (visually & posing-wise) to the figure and didnt drive up the price either. So yeah, too bad Storm didnt go that route.

True, I'm just that kind of collector that wants everything to be "accurate", except when I don’t

Looks like im priced out of this one. Oh well. I can justify the price on zangief v2 because hes huge and comes with a bunch of stuff. King costs even more but doesnt seem as big and comes with less accessories.

I'm guessing it's baked in that they're going to sell less Kings than Zangiefs. They do like 5 variants for every SF character and they're just more popular. I agree though that with one head and a couple hands it seems limited. Everyone's prices are going up across the board so I can see it hitting a smaller company harder and they have to raise them more.

Totally forgot they had figs with soft goods. Yeah, it's a shame they didn't go route. Storm's Demitri will also feature a rubber cape. It still looks good with that character, but King really could have used a fabric/wired cape.

There's not enough room for a head inside that mask!
