I'm not a big spider-gwen fan, i only know her really from the movie... but that suit does look awesome with the procedural triangles on her suit.
I suprised the plack says "gwen stacy" rather then spider-gwen... ? Spider pig looks pretty decent as well , wonder if they will do spider-noir and spider-man (peter b parker) It's a pretty awesome figure |

Good quality looking figure and the masked head sculpt is cool. The unmasked just shows you how far away she looks from the Gwen Stacy in the early SpiderGwen comics. They slowly changed her look for a couple years to be more African decent, but never really talk about it until it’s mentioned in this movie. I asked Robbie Rodriguez about it one day, and he was short and to the point saying this is how she looks now, sorry you don’t like it. So if you ever wonder what happened to a character, just don’t ask lol

Uhh... What? Is there some kind of problem there? It's a stylized animated movie... |

Based off a book. No problem, just stating that the character was altered in the comics without ever mentioning it. However, they mention the change in ethnicity early on in the movie. Looks nothing like Gwen Stacy, just a young girl in a Spider costume.

She mentions that she’s south African in the movie. She looks like the classic Gwen Stacy early on, but goes through a sudden change in character design as the books progress. Probably has something to do with Robbie retiring, maybe they implemented changes to the character. Marvel was changing several characters at the time. He seemed to support whatever they did, but if you were avidly reading the books, it was kinda weird to see the character change so much.

I wish the feet would have had more arch to them to help replicate the "en pointe" ballet stances and poses she performs and walks with throughout the film, however I can imagine how problematic that would have been to the design of the figure. It would have sent it into Barbie territory and made it impossible to stand on it's own. It was one of my favorite little nuances to the character on the film and gave her a bit more elegance and grace in comparison to her Spider-Verse companions. Sewn ribbons on her shoes (as opposed to printed ones on the costume) would have been nice as well.
Outside of that gripe, this one looks outstanding. I like the pattern on the suit, and the headsculpts on both the masked and unmasked heads are gorgeous. Last edited by Trivial Psychic; 04-29-2020 at 11:59 AM.. |

As for Edge of Spider-Verse, she still looks the same to me, aside from slightly darker skin tone (she was super-pale in the comics), an eyebrow piercing, and the "edgy" buzz-cut on the sides & back/asymmetrical hairdo that every girl has now. |

Not really sure what you're talking about? I haven't read the current Ghost-Spider series but I did read the entire first series beginning to end and she looked super-white to me the entire time. I just Googled some Ghost-Spider images and she still looks the same from what I can tell. I'm not seeing the African thing.

...What? Her look in terms of her actual face hasn't changed much, and I'm pretty sure that was a joke in the movie, not an expression of any actual heritage? Especially given how hastily and on-the-spot it was thrown out, and when Miles expresses understandable confusion about the "African" claim, she specifies to South African.
