Too bad the game these are based around was apparently a total dumpster fire because all the stuff they're making from it look pretty good.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. It's strange that they're still running a figure line for a game that essentially shot itself with the starting gun.

I like be the marines from this line, but I've never played the game. I use them mainly to help fill out my Acid Rain collection since they release in a slow trickle.

The Aliens license can transcend a bad game, as many of the core concepts are the same; Aliens, Marines, Power Loader, APC. If the movie licenses aren't available, but a game license is then that's what they can grab.

I own a few of Hiya's Xenomorph figures. Their joints are just begging to be broken...they're very delicate. I can't speak to the marine figures, though.

I have some of the Marines and the Xenos. The Marines fared far better. Still softer plastic, but they don't feel like they'll snap like the Xenos (2 of which mine did).

I have the three marines and a couple of aliens, they can be fragile, and I had read up on them before buying them so I just decided to boil them and heat gun them for a while before I decided to play with them and they work just fine, it's one of those "Be gentle yet sturdy in handling them, then once the joints have freed up paint you can play with them comfortably. If I have any actual qualms, its that the paint apps feel like they were done with regular testors acrylics and with not so much attention to detail.

Not really. There were a fair amount of bugs early on (albeit mostly confined to the console releases; I played the PC version and never noticed anything particularly glaring) and Gearbox made the bastard move of funnelling most of the funds that Sony had earmarked for development of the game into their Borderlands sequel, resulting in the graphics disparity between the early demo videos and the final product (and also quite understandably bringing a lawsuit from Sony down on their heads) but beyond that, it's a pretty solid game for what it is: a chance to step into the boots of a United States Colonial Marine and blast xenomorphs with a pulse rifle without the usual interference from glory-hogging Predators. Certainly, the story creates far fewer continuity/plot logic headaches than that of Isolation (which had its own assortment of serious bugs and glitches).

As for the figures, though, with these new characters, and the APC, I'm seriously tempted to start collecting. I can even overlook the funky camouflage, since the patterns they're using were actually available as unlockable skins in-game. The only thing that really presents an issue for me is the helmets, which are both too small and lacking the "lobster plates" that hang down at the back to protect the neck, but I think there's an ecrater store somewhere that sells casts of the old Hot Toys snap-kit versions...
