So, Star Wars guys - what would be the best, modern era, 3.75 Storm Trooper. I'm looking for the Star Wars equivalent of the G.I. Joe POC line, very detailed, lots of articulation, weapons, mold quality, nice paint apps. I just opened the Sandtrooper from the Jar Jar SDCC set, and it's pretty solid. So, that level or better, but, the classic "pure white" Storm Trooper.

Any help appreciated, later!

Power of the Jedi one with the commtech chip was always my favorite, well articulated (for SW) and the paint was accurate and clean.

^ a good one, no doubt. I personally like the Vintage Collection Storm Troopers. To me, they are the gold standard.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Darth. Go with Vintage, even if it might be a little difficult to track down enough of them for your needs. I swear, Hasbro should just put at least one base Clone Trooper and Storm Trooper in every Vintage case just so the hardcore SW collectors can army-build without buying them all up before casual collectors get a shot at them.

In fact, the only SW Vintage army builder who peg-warms around me is the basic Battle Droid. *shrugs*

Actually Hasbro did exactly this in 2010-2012- and the clone troopers & stormtroopers peg-warmed hard. Some 2010 cases had multiple Sandtroopers as well as vanilla Stormtroopers. Fans asked, they delivered, it didnt work. Fans actually have been demanding "no more stormtroopers" to Hasbro the last year to six months, which is maybe why there's none in 3.75 Black Series. I think thats insane and short-sighted (i army build stormtroopers) but to each their own. I wish they'd do at HTS the white box 8-packs they did in the 90's again but with post 2008 figures, even though they did before and it went horribly and sat for many ears.

Interesting. In my experience, I rarely saw a Vintage Stormtrooper on the pegs at any point during the period you mentioned. Vintage Sandtroopers were uncommon but easier to find than their standard brethren.

But I totally agree with the other fans regarding the Vintage Clone Troopers. The base versions from AOTC and ROTS, plus Ranked/Specialized versions were all over the place (and in a few cases, still are). It's partly due to my personal bias for the OT troops and against the Clones, but I wish they had had more of the OT Troopers and less from the Clone Saga. The new trilogy isn't exactly old enough to qualify as "vintage", anyway.

Otherwise, I'm damn near ancient by comparison.

Cool guys, thanks. Are we talking about these?

Star Wars Vintage Collection Empire Strikes Back Stormtrooper VC41 Unpunched | eBay

Star Wars Vintage Collection Revenge Jedi Stormtrooper VC41 Unpunched | eBay

I see the OTC ones too, look similar. But, you guys are saying stick with the Vintage from 2011-ish, correct?

Yep, those are the ones. There's no difference to the figures with the ESB and ROTJ cardbacks.

And the VC Troopers are far better than the OTC ones, but if you're going to have a large display (like 5-row deep platoons and such), then you could get away with slotting a few OTCs in the background as filler.

Sorry to get back to you so late,

If you want ball hips, go Vintage Collection. Otherwise, I'd get the VOTC, TLC, or 30th Ann ones as they have no ball hips but do have ball heads, shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles. The swivel hips still work well. They're roughly around the same price, and they display very well together if mixed. Anything before that starts to look funky and has much less articulation.

And the slot in the back for Sandtroopers, no slot for Stormtroopers. It's universal across the era's we're talking about. Personally I have mostly Sandtroopers, as I like to have the option of display either, but I know a few collectors who *hate* those slots, so your mileage will vary.

Thanks. I think Im gonna grab a couple of each and see how they feel. I've been out of 3.75 Star Wars since about 84, barring random pickups which I've since parted with.
