Guess Wal-Mart is trying to clear some old stock before the Last Jedi?

yup

thats the first thing i thought of haahahah. always marking up the mainstream big box store items that are available everywhere and then the stuff only solicited to comic shops is usually cheaper or on sale. at least that's how it is at 2 of the shops near me hahahaa.

I think those might be the codenames for Jyn Erso and Death Trooper, as those (among many other similar codenames) came up in the product leaks for Rogue One merch way back in early 2016. I don't know why Diamond is using old names for this press release, but they are Jyn Erso and Death Trooper.

I mean I presume they're gonna offer the others, just considering the list given there, it sounded like the "initial" ones they're gonna be selling were from a very old list that still listed Jyn and Death Trooper under those codenames. I would be surprised if they weren't gonna be selling ones other than those two waves.

I still need Ponda Baba (Walrus man) from the 3 3/4 line. I never saw him in the Vintage Collection and was thrilled when he was announced as a repack in the Black Series, but that wave never hit shelves in my area. I blame the oversaturation of Endor Han, Finn and Poe Dameron figures. Even marked down to $5, those figures have been collecting dust for going on 2 years now I think.

You know that a comic book shop is probably going to have to order these by the case. They won't be able just to order the desirable figures. So for every one or two Deathtroopers and Royal Guards the shop owner will have a bunch of old figures that will shelf warm forever. Why would you spend $15 on a Jyn Erso figure at your LCS when you can pick up 3 for that price in the clearance isle at Wal-Mart. Hopefully, I'm wrong and we'll be able to get all the hard-to-find figures we want.
