re: Rat King

compared to a lot of recent figures, you're not getting a lot for $55 either. :/

The entire point of super7’ s TMNT classics was that they were…you know….CLASSIC. These are updates of the original Playmates line, just as MOTUC was updated toys from our childhood.

Now after 10 waves, boom just these crap figures. Ratking…..are you eFing kidding me.Brian, you really think that Emo boy band head works? My god man.

Clearly playmates has said enough? Because I have no other explanation on why they would bomb this line….and it’s bombed. I don’t expect a wave 11.

I’m beyond out. I won’t buy one of these steaming piles.

I’ve never seen a toy line commit suicide. There must be an award for this or at least a flavored tea.

Even forgoing the terrible Rat King. Keeping with that these are supposed to be updates of the classic Playmate Toys, how does a Mirage Casey Jones fit into that? So weird.

I don't remember the Playmates Rat King figure looking so "bishonen," or Ninja April wearing yellow (or pants)...

Hmmm, Super7 being blocked seems to add up. Whether true or not, I can't see Super7 missing the opportunity to have an original head in there. It's just too weird...Maybe that's what happened with the April head too.

Looking at the Rat King again. People were so focused on the terrible head, he doesn't even have his bow gun with rat on it. Or roadkill cat belt.

Looks like rat king is based on his shredders revenge design for some reason.

heard that one possible reason for this Rat King is that Super7 can only use Playmates designs if those designs were featured in some other non-Playmates merchandise or media. and this is why no new figures come with the weapons sprues either.

(this Rat King design was from a video game so it isn't off-limits like the Playmates design)

No idea what the real story is - and we may never know - but this is hugely disappointing. Until now this was a dream line for me. I'll just be glad that we got as many great updates as we did.

Maybe I'll shift my Turtles money to Silverhawks...

I'm not even buying this line, but I don't believe this is what people signed on for with this line. This guy, Mirage Casey, and an original April? Going 9 waves in and then pivoting isn't cool.

If they're going to non toy designs because Playmates are being asses, why not a ninja April...based off of actual ninja April from Tournament Fighters?

I presume Playmates doesn't want competition for their revival of the original carded figures?

could still be defined as speculation but I read that Rocker Leo was do-able because the design was featured on some other vintage TMNT product BUT in order to differentiate it from the Playmates figure it couldn't come with any of that figure's accessories.

https://www.tmnttoys.com/91figures/rockroll/5158.htm

so if there is a wave 11, that could be the loophole available to Super7 if they want to make any Playmates updates.

With the backlash building over this I don’t see a wave 11. I have doubts whether wave 10 will even hit its needed numbers for production.

Given NECA already made Turtles in Time figures perhaps they have the exclusive rights?

They COULD extend the Ultimates by just doing more Shredders Revenge figures. A good way to get a proper April, for example. Different enough hair from the Playmates toy and stuff like her camera on pole she beats people with.

Super7 isn't going to release another April in her jumpsuit figure. Their original one didn't sell and I can't see them revisiting her just because she looks awful.

NECA also seems to have reneged on fixing their April. We were promised an ultimate version of their cartoon April "soon" . . . in December of 2021. I'm not holding my breath.

Both companies have really let April down.

Ramen Toys is going to be doing a 3rd party toy accurate replacement headsculpt of the Rat King later this year, just like the Dolph Lundgren headsculpt they are doing for the MOTU Origins and Masterverse movie He-Man figures. You can find more info on their facebook page. They just posted a 3D render of their Rat King head and it looks great.

But yeah, this is easily the worst TMNT wave Super 7 has offered and it doesn't bode well for much future with this line. At least we already got a lot of the best figures already, but I was really hoping for a Playmates style Fugitoid and some of the other remaining mutants from the first 5 years of the vintage line. Plus they need to finish the "teams" they started with the Sports All Stars and Rock an Roll turtles.

Why is Super7's Ratking so pretty boy esque? I mean, I just read his very first appearance in the original comics and he was a freaking horror movie character.

Because it's based off the new Shredder's Revenge game.

So a 2 figure "wave" is what we're down to now? Even with one being a deluxe, that still seems really small.

The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under were some of my favorite Disney classics. These I’m getting. I’m hoping for some Snow White soon.

It happens. After the first 4-figure wave of Conan the Barbarian ultimates, its been 1 & 2-figure waves for subsequent releases.

Love the little Evinrude leaf-boat, but the price is silly.
