Oh man hell yes! This has been one of the best reveals lately. I love Nosferatu and I can finally have him. I still gravely respect what F.W. Murnau and Max Schreck( Bram Stoker too unofficially) created. I thought NECA was going to be the one to make it with their Ultimate line especially after the Toony Terrors figure. I'd buy theirs too if they made it but this is fangtastic. Honestly if Super7 makes something for the Cabinet of Dr. Calligari I'll be in too.

Oh, I need that Metalunan Mutant! Too many memories of the MST3K: The Movie riff on This Island Earth. In the words of Tom Servo (for those who know the reference), "Oh wow, I AM Metaluna".

Was thinking NECA would eventually get to 'the Mutant', but I caved along with his 'Deutsche Freund' Graff Orlock.

That Nosferatu is looking extremely cartoony. From what I see here, the Mezco version is superior.

Actually, getting a real movie poster vibe off the Mutant, and der Graff, but I am just chucking that up to the rendering.

Love these two! The cartoon look is perfect. Maybe a little stiff looking. I really hope Mezco does a Metaluna. I’m pretty sure I have to get these. I really wish I could see a full review of these first showing off the articulation.
Super7 has been having LOOSE JOINT PROBLEMS. They need toFIX THIS ISSUE. Mafex was getting a bad reputation for that but cleaned up the QC. Super7 just keeps letting it go. It’s getting to the point I don’t trust pre-ordering anything without see the final product first……

I assume these would scale close to NECA's Universal Monsters? Maybe slightly taller?

Both lines are scaled for 7 inches, so they should match all right. 'The Mutant', that is Super7 stepping on some toes (unless NECA was not planning on making it).

Does NECA have sole rights to Metaluna?

Usually when a company gets a license to do figures, its for a particular scale. I wonder if NECA, when they got the Universal License, didn't have 'This Island Earth' (1955) as part of the license. Maybe the license cuts of at '54 (year Creature from the Black Lagoon came out)?

I am just figuring they don't have an exclusive license. Although I have to say if NECA makes Metaluna they're totally bullshit on not making a single fucking Showa era monster besides Godzilla.

Not to mention exclusive and difficult to get even when they were released. That second Symphony of Horror version came up at midnight and even then everyone who was there for it had to wait another 45 minutes for the site to stop crashing to finally get their orders in. Lucky me, I succeeded in getting both. This one you can jump in now, next week, or whenever. You could probably not even pre-order and still pick one up from BigBadToyStore or something. Also while the likeness is cartoony like all Ultimates, this one is the actual Orlock seen in the film, Max Schreck himself.

I like how Orlock looks. It actually looks like the character it's supposed to as opposed to whatever "original design" Mezco was going for with their figures.

I wonder are there actor likeness rights for someone that's been dead for nearly 100 years? Like I wonder if there's an estate or anything they have to deal with or it's just whatever at this point.

For quite a few, yes. The actors may be dead, but they often have heirs. Though, for Max, that would be interesting. Up until the collapse of East Germany, there was not much still known about him. Going over his imdb page, he was married though no mention of children. Same goes for his Wikipedia page, but those are both rather brief entries. He passed in '36, and was married in 1910, possible to not have kids, but there could be some unscrupulous family members who could try and make a claim to the legacy.

Odd about the Metaluna mutant given that NECA has the Universal licensing. Nosferatu is in the public domain so likeness rights are irrelevant there. Anyone can make one. The funny part being that if NECA does these as well they would also be called Ultimates.
