I have been waiting for a Hot Toys Lando for years and have even gone so far as to write them a couple times a year to kick the tires on it. This figure looks great. I hope it does well enough to convince them to put out a Lando in his General Calrissian attire from ROTJ.

About f****** time. I will put my money where my mouth is and preorder Calrissian immediately.

Because that's what you do when companies make things people actually want.

Interesting tease of the Bespin Escape Leia in one of the photos. That would be a cheap and easy release for them to do since its all existing parts (Hoth jumpsuit, ANH Leia boots, Bespin Leia headsculpt).

Meanwhile we're STILL waiting for Bespin Han which was teased long ago in the photos of the Bespin Leia figure that has already shipped. What's the hold up with that one?!

I know it's hearsay but a guy in a FB group works for Marvel/Disney, and he says it's Ford is the hold up for licensing approval.

I'm not sure what Ford can actually do to hold this up. Star Wars has always included full likeness rights for the characters.

They could just re-use the same headsculpt for their ANH Han which was pretty good already, and change the hairstyle to match his ESB hair. I don't see why there's be any issues with the likeness even if Ford has some small say in it. It was a pretty convincing headsculpt.

I don't think the original toy line would've required rights back then would they? I know they're all bundled now, and maybe most of the cast probably gave their OK's back then or sold the rights, but if anyone didn't I think Ford would've held onto his.

For what it's worth, this same guy told me they were working on Lando and here he is. Whether they have the rights or not, maybe there's still some final "OK" that Ford has to give? There's really just no other explanation to me as to why they haven't done one then. They would've sold a lot more Bespin Leias if they had a Han to go with her.

I don't know the specifics of the original toy line, but actor likenesses are part of the movie contracts themselves. Star Wars has always had full likenesses of the actors included because Lucas always intended to pursue licensed merchandise for the 1st film. Films that tend not to have actor likenesses (60's to late 80's) are those that were never seen as marketable to a toy/collector base.

They've already done ANH Han and TFA Han, so some approval hold up for Bespin Han seems odd and unlikely to me. Ford really shouldn't have any official say in it. So the delay in releasing this is very strange, especially when its a main character in an iconic outfit that would sell really well, on top of this year being the 40th anniversary of ESB and Hot Toys gradually offering ESB themed characters all throughout the year. Bespin Han is a major omission on that part.

Not everything can be bundled. There's no Jake Gyllenhaal sculpt for any of the Mysterio figures. Hot Toys even showed a blurred face at some point then removed it. If even the MCU doesn't tie every likeness down, I don't doubt Harrison Ford at some point took control of his likeness. Who knows, maybe he signed his Star Wars A New Hope likeness off but not ESB/RotJ?

There's only 2 reasons I can fathom that Hot Toys has yet to do a Han from ESB/RotJ, 1) they cannot get a good sculpt, which is totally possible. Even the "good" custom sculpts I see for Han or Indy aren't absolutely perfect from what I've seen. And 2) they need his likeness approval and he won't give it.

Like I mentioned before, imagine how much better Bespin Leia would've sold if it went up for preorder at the same time as as a Bespin Han? I totally passed and am still passing on that Leia, but I might at the time preordered both. If Hot Toys or Lucasfilm has the rights totally for Han, there's no reason not to make one now.

The only thing that makes it very hard to understand is that the Black Series is still doing many Han figures, RotJ coming up and Bespin the last couple years. It truly makes NO sense if the rights are not the problem.
