Well that's good to know. I've never really dealt with Super7, but if that's how they are going to handle these that's great, because I'm sure the Turtles are going to be really popular.

And there are the sprues again and thus the line is dead to me before it even started. You can even see the nubs still on the weapon holstered on Rafael's back were they didn’t bother to properly sand the excess plastic down.

That is so unbelievably, utterly dumb. Do they really expect people to pay 45 bucks for collector-oriented figures while ruining all the accessories in advance by leaving them on the sprue?

Have fun getting nippers, sandpaper and the right kind of paint so your 45$ figures can have decent looking accessories. This stuff gets me mad. How can you so perfectly demonstrate how detached from your customer base you really are?

If I want to put work into customizing I buy model kits, not action figures!

By the way, I love how the prototype’s pictures have really badly worked on Sais were they cut too much plastic off but painted it black...

Totally agree Ramenrider; I'm not buying the turtles, I'm definitely getting Baxter since I think he looks great, but the others, meh. May get Splinter since I doubt NECA will make one.

And what's with their 'promo' photos of Raph? He's not articulated in any pics, not even bending the elbows.

Seems like early prototypes without articulation, the same they had on display.

Which also sucks, because one, if you want to sell articulated figures you should show off said articulation. Two, and that's what I hate about Super7 specifically, once the articulation is put in they all have these weird holes above the knees and elbows, the typical stuff even the Mattel MOTU Classics had.

I guess that's how the articulation works but it’s something I personally would get rid off as these holes are rather unsightly. And you don’t see them on any promo shots from Super7, they are absent on the Thundercats shots a well.

My TMNT-collecting days are behind me, but I'll admit that I would be hard-pressed to not buy a Slash if they release him. Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa as well.

Interesting thing to note, Baxter's wearing a wedding ring. First noticed it in the initial reveal, then went back and looked at the original toy. Lo and behold, he's got one sculpted on there, too, just unpainted.

As for the sprues, while I do agree that they're an homage that could've best been left off, it's not like they're a difficult thing to remove correctly, with little to no excess left. Just takes a good eye and a pair of wiresnips or an Xacto blade. But yeah, if you're paying that much for something on sprues, it better be a high-end model kit.

I agree about the toy villains, I will probably be buying this line for those.

As for the sprues, it's not about cutting them well, it's that they won't be painted anymore. From what I've read on comments here, they're painting them on the sprue.

Probably not much they can do. These are hand painted prototypes, and likely pretty fragile.

I have the KO colored mask Neca turtles, the official Neca comics april, and plan to get Super7 Splinter as my comics Splinter. Pretty sure Neca will make a cartoon Splinter as part of a Target 2 pack, which will go with my NECA cartoon set.

Once you cut the weapons off the sprue, the weapons rack becomes worthless. At $45 they could include a functional rack to actually store accessories.

I'm there with you. I like that this line is vintage toy focused but NECAs turtles are the style I want.

I'll just grab the non turtle figures that catch my eye or ignite my nostalgia. Though I tend to army build so I already want some of those foot soldiers to go with my NECA ones.

i love neca but necas arent superior. super 7 has had some growing pains but they are firing on all cylinders now. and these turtles look to have better/more functional articulation than at least the target cartoon turtles

Why? Figuarts NEVER finishes a license. Unless it’s dragonball, they always do a few figures of line then move on, and rarely do secondary tier figures or villains. Sailor moon, Ranma, guardians of the galaxy, spider-man, etc.

Depends on your point of view. Personally I never cared for the Splinter figure as a kid. I’d much rather have a Splinter based on the show, not the toy. Same for most of the Super7 TMNT line. I have a connection to the old figures, but most people probably don’t. So (at least) in that regard, NECA is superior. Another thing too, until we have these in hand, you’re simply judging these based on the prototypes, not the finished product.

How can you possibly talk about articulation here? It doesn't even look like they have the articulation cuts in the turtle sculpt. The elbows don't look like they move as is.

Absolutely. They're my favorite set, I got the NECA sets for the villains, I played with the turtles but the SHF are much better IMO. More options for headsculpts and just feel better. The diecast in the legs makes them pose great.

They at least showed a Shredder figure, but yeah it sucks they didn't go forward. They were too expensive to me, I got them for about $30 each on sale. They're the best cartoon turtles out there IMO.

These look beautiful! I can't wait to get these and I hope they can expand the line to cover some of the more fringe characters like Muckman and Mutagen Man. This line will be a fantastic compliment to Masters of the Universe Classics, serving as an update of the vintage toy line with modern paint and articulation.

Yeah, Figuarts likes to do that. They showed prototypes of Vision for Civil War and he never came out. Several other figures I've looked for never came out from Figuarts as well.

Personally, I think the Figuarts TMNT is "too toons". The lime color, "Disney" face, really didn't wow me. I saw them several times on clearance for $30 and couldn't bring myself to buy them. With Neca, I know they are delicate, but they blend the cartoon look with the arcade's look. They don't look like mascots at a theme park. That being said, Neca's Foot Clan figures are amazing. The foot soldier from Neca completely blows this away, especially if the rumors of a two pack of Foot Soldiers coming to Target next year are true. Army building at $50 a piece is a tad nutty.

are we looking at the same pics? super7s have full rocker ankles, double jointed knees, full 90 degree elbow bends....

way better than the neca target turtles and as good or better than the neca movie turtles. I'm talking purely objectively here. i love both companies. looks like some neca fans here are a little prejudiced

I know what you mean. They cut lines down most of the time. Unless its kamen, dragonball or star wars...
The head sculpts are too toony. But head sculpts aside, the bodies are amaaaazing, best turtle body hands down. And that Shredder could have lead to more toys with the highest quality.
If the turtles sold great we could have had at least 6-8 characters. I'd rather have that than this super7 stuff with little articulation at basically the same exact price as the SHF stuff.
Neca is fulfilling that super7-ish spot already. I want something of the SHF/Figma/MAFEX quality, for once! I don't mind if its a smaller amount.

I with you on the SHF. I waited till $30 too. Sadly I was part of the problem there. The heads were too toony. When I finally got it because of the sale I was shocked. It was the best turtle. Minus the head sculpt.
Hell! They could have included the toony, and I would have liked it, if, they included even just ONE other head sculpt that had the "cooler" expression. They probably would have sold great if there was just one extra head to offset that kiddy feel.
Like the Chucky figures. If Neca only included the normal kiddy face I would buy it. But add a bloody/angry face, sold, and you want both heads.
Arrrrgh, I wiiiiish that SHF line continued...that shredder prototype is holy grail level.
