Good to know this already overpriced line of figures all include truly worthless pieces of plastic instead of questionably worthless pieces of plastic.

It seems like a contradiction. You want to hang with a negative person? XD not me. I don't think anybody here said bad stuff or is negative. It's entertaining jibber jabber.

Absolutely agree with your sentiment here. I can imagine some people thinking "well if you don't like it, don't buy it and don't chime in".

But that's completely the wrong mentality.

I honestly resent the pricing, and it's not because I want and or can't afford the Super 7 stuff. That's truly not it at all. I just really believe the pricing is criminally outlandish, especially for a modified throw back piece; and that it's on the consumer to not respond financially in those situations as opposed to blindly feeding what is basically an addiction.

If it was only a matter of preference for a style of piece, or art direction, then there'd be no point in providing a negative opinion beyond "eh they are fine, it's just not for me". But that's not the case here.

I'm a die hard playmates tmnt collector. The super7 sculpts are fantastic. I pre-ordered the first wave to truly assess the cost vs value.

The pricing always looks high. There might be a lot of reasonable factors that inflate price beyond the general market.
Each one of the figures are a unique mold in the first wave. There are 4 uniques(As opposed to 3. Like when NECA first started their TMNT line...that Krang is basically a statue). These are a full 7 inches. More plastic, more paper.
On the business side, they have a gigantic portfolio for a company of their size. The new releases and toy lines never cease. Loose deadlines are more flexible but expensive. Loose deadlines give them the ability to sell more figures of different variations overall.
The MOTU line has so many characters with all the many unique variables. If people are paying extra to cover these costs, and lack of franchise popularity compared to Marvel or DC, the line can continue to produce more variables like a "normal" toy line.

It’s not very fun to wait a long time for super7 pre-orders and not know really when it’s going to show up. In most cases they show up at some point. I’m relieved they even exist. Time is insignificant compared to the creation, for me. I'd rather have something than nothing in this case.
They probably have less technologies to create the toys compared to higher operating companies as well. That could create a perceived "increased" cost. When really it's just normal for a small company with a unique business model.

If all those factors make the cost too unreasonable for the majority of buyers then they couldn't operate they way they do. It seems like enough people are buying to sustain the model they have built for the time being. Prices are consistent and so is expansion.

Cheaper prices, more articulation, tighter deadlines, or continuing loose deadlines revealing even more unique figures per wave, could be the companies progression if they keep cashing in. The profits could go to better/more technology, allowing them to improve, without inflating prices. It's not necessarily about increasing volume either. A billion dollar figure facility could produce better results than a million dollar facility.
The major capital investment cost for that technology is a big hurdle. To keep prices from inflating due to the purchase of a “billion” dollar facility, you have to gain the capital with company revenue. Taking on other investors or loans from the bank will immediately increase costs to cover the interest. Which makes expansion unreasonable. Super7 probably wants to offers all of these thing but they need time.

People who care about TMNT, MOTU, CATS and the rest, Super7 is one of the few making major stuff for these smaller franchises. Sometimes it’s as simple as, you gotta pay the extra cost for being part of a smaller group.

This is all mainly speculation. I'm sure Joe or somebody has like actual answers. But generally these things all breakdown the same and it's not usually "price gouging". Or some kind of dishonesty……….Geoff Beckett/Scumbag4Life……..

Based on my current thoughts I could see a fair estimation of $45 on the figures.

Overall, I agree with you. In general, it's really hard to narrow down what is/isn't "overpriced" without knowing all the variables. The only things we know is A) these are made to order, and B) Super7 must make money. We really don't know how many are legitimately ordered. It's safe to say stores order a few hundred each, but we don't know the fandom preorders. If Super7 makes 12,000 the price would be better than if they only make 10,000, but maybe Super7 priced these conservatively at the numbers they KNOW they can hit. Also, Super 7 is a VERY small company, with a very small distribution footprint. They have a lot less ability to absorb costs. If you look at crowdfunded toy attempts, those are almost always substantially more than the popular brands at Walmart, because those, too, have to be made in smaller numbers and still make a profit for the designer.

I cannot fault Super7 for wanting to make money. The price isn't that bad. Good articulation, tons of accessories, good sculpt, they hired 4Horsemen (probably not cheap), and only $45-50 depending on where you order. I'd say that's a pretty good deal compared to Mezco One, where you pay 80+ for essentially the same plastic body over and over with different soft goods and accessories. All things considered, I'm perfectly good with buying Splinter. He fits close enough for the comics Splinter I'll never get from Neca. Time will tell if I go with anything else from Super7, but they definitely deserve respect for the attempt.

Looks okay. Not very Ninja Turtlish. I thought they would have some kind of artwork, but perhaps the cost was too much. Having a pic of the Turtles would have been nice. I'm just glad we have the figures. A sewer layer would have been cooler. For some reason I'm reminded of The Simpsons

I'm definitely wondering about that 4 horsemen cost too. Those guys are like rockstars right? They are in my mind. That's gotta be a pretty penny.
It seems like the toy company would have a lot less to create with a property, like "Batman", because it brings to the table all this stuff. But turning the visuals into a 3D representation that works with sculpture and engineering, is a huge creative and mathematical feat. Super7's ultimates are somewhat in the technically advanced category. I'd like them to be on SHF level in that department. Maybe one day.
It's seems like a unique accumulation of costs.

And ONE12? HA! I can totally see some "unnecessary" inflation there. That's what happens when you are basically a monopoly right?
No disrespect to mezco. I really love a few of the pieces. Maybe I'm underestimating the fabrics and accessories costs. Like you said, can't fault them for charging if enough people are paying.
It's only a matter of time before soap studios and other guys grab a larger share. You can see it already starting to happen with the subtle integration of fabric accessories in the "all plastic" figure world.

What I hope really takes off in the ages 15+ collectibles world are seamless figures. The new hyper real Darth Vader is amazing, and well worth the price, if I collected Star Wars stuff. I’d love more of those, especially characters like wolverine, Wonderwoman, beast, or other characters that show a lot of epidermis. Also seamless animals or a Jurassic Park line. Really love how technology is moving in the toy world.

wooow I didn't realize that was seamless tech. I had to look it up. Thats crazy interesting.
Maybe I should try one out to get a closer look. I rarely collect anything above 1:12 is my only issue...not sure when the dam will break on that one.

They look amazing. The Shredder looks goofy kinda but its a toy representation, so what can we do. The original toy didn't look that great. I'm still gonna buy them all.

Mutagen Man looks great, a figure I forgot I had until I saw this. I hope they keep the gimmick of filling him with water.

I dislike they went for the total retro pink for Bebop, kind of a waste on a nice sculpt.

I kind of agree. On one hand, it's cool they are really trying to be faithful to the originals, but on the other hand, updating that paint would have been most welcome. It used to drive me nuts on the original that his face was so pink. I think I even tried to darken it with a brown marker.

I'm not feeling this wave at all, which is kinda scary. I think their ReAction figures actually have a lot more charm. It's a strange feeling as I was really liking the direction with the first wave.

Or they could've included an alt head like with Shredder. I'll still probably pick him up since I don't have the NECA one yet. If I do manage to get the NECA then I'll probably skip him.

None of this 2nd wave do anything for me. Sticking with first wave Splinter as a Comics Splinter, and calling it a day.

I would rather Shredder get more weapons or a removable shirt over an ugly homage head nobody's going to use.
Bright pink on Bebop head looks bad.
