I read #4 and #9 at my local libary and asked if they could get more so after just getting out and reading 1, 2 and 3 and I just have to say I love it if you see it, get it!
Who else is like me and enjoys the series? |

I read the first 4 volumes of this series in Hardcover and enjoyed every bit of it. I got sidetracked with all of Marvel's events and X-Men's Messiah Complex trilogy that I just never went back.
I heard Ultimatum pretty much destroyed all the was good about the ultimate universe (by pretty much ending it with bad writing, but that is just what I hear). I intend to catch up again on my Marvel Digital account and complete the series. My advice, if you can afford it, is to just get a digital account and catch up there. It will cost you less than buying trying to buy this series in books of the shelf. Just my opinion.

I used to read it up until the Magnetic Pole (Or whatever) storyline, and by then I realized it had just gotten completely boring, and for the last year or two I was only collecting out of obligation, and dumped it. The first couple years worth are great. After that they just stopped trying.
Ultimate Spiderman however stayed amazing all the way through. The rest of the Ultimate Universe, I couldn't care less about though.

Second this.
Of all the changes they made that did bother me, that wasn't one of them. Actually made me chuckle on a few levels with some of the gags they took it in. (To be fair, there weren't many changes that bothered me, and none come to mind. In fact, some of the changes were great. I likes Ultimate Mojo far better than regular. And I love d the Storm/Beast pairing)

Only thing I really didn't like was Sabertooth having FOUR claws. Him having claws at all is, well, not right :P.

Primarily because he is a favorite character of mine and I loved the relationships he had in the marvel universe like with Kitty in later years, not originally cus she was young and stuff. Just thought they could make them closer in age in this reality and have them have a legit love story from the start instead of all the crap that went before, other than that I kind of liked his more hands on approach to combat in the ultimate u and his costume was cool too.
Love Storm & Beast as well. And it, in my mind, took away from Sabretooth to have claws. I am also aware he always wanted them but still just seemed not his style |

None of the changes to Ultimate X-men bothered me at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the new take on these characters for the most part.
Now if we are really talking changes that were for the worst in the Ultimate Universe, none come close to the mistake that was Ultimate Deadpool. An unfunny mutant hating cyborg mutant killer. WTF?! At least Spiderman Shattered Dimensions did the right thing by letting Nolan North voice him in his true 616 personality that earned him his fan base.

He's not a bad character but he's annoying. Though at least unlike Cable and Wolverine, I can understand why he's popularity.

What I mean by that analogy is that both were supposed to be "heel" characters that people were supposed to not like. Those anti authority figures who do whatever they want to do, whenever and however they like, but not without their own moral code of honor. Much to the surprise of the writers or in this case, the wrestler, everyone ended up loving them. Unfortunately, we live in a world where "if it aint broke, let's mass produce it". Wolverine is a very deep character if you actually read the stories that are meant to be his and not just him boosting sales of another team's book and I don't feel he's any more over exposed than Batman is in DC's universe, although I believe Batman is no less deep of a character. That said, I love Wolverine and he actually is my favorite character for many of the same reasons why Raphael was my favorite Ninja Turtle and Jack Bauer made me a 24 fan.

You really can't understand why Wolverine is Popular? He's one of the reasons why the anti-hero exists today. He was to Marvel what Stone Cold Steve Austin was to the WWF (before the WWE change) at it's peak.

It's an Anime take on a popular Marvel Character. If anyone's watched Japanese Anime before, this series shouldn't be a big surprise. It's very true to the Anime Style of Japan, and reminds me a bit of Witchblade to be honest. I think the source behind the letdown, and this is purely my own personal opinion, stems from the expectation that it would be classic Marvel storytelling with the advantage of Japanese style animation. Instead, you get Japanese style animation, with a Japanese Anime take on the character (skinny wolverine, overly dramatic poses and cheesy anime lines, even by Marvel standards). I think this series is being unfairly judged against the myriad of Wolverine source material and his features in other animated cartoons and movies instead of against the genre in which it was meant to be representing. If that isn't the case, then suffice it to say that Marvel characters just don't translate all that well into the Anime Genre. But will it destroy the characters....? ...Nahhhhh ![]()

I enjoyed the X-Men Ultimate book for a long time too. I think when Bishop and Cable showed up is when I stopped caring. I wish Adam Kubert had stayed on as artist for as long as Bagley did for Ultimate Spidey. That would've been amazing.
