Tamashii Nations Store New York Grand Opening September 8th 2023
Opening September 8th. Times Square, NYC. Exclusives to the store. 1500 Broadway Floor 1, New York, NY 10036 Will be there opening day. Very cool there is a permanent US location like the Tokyo store I always see in pics. The fact it's a times square location blows my mind, can't be cheap. |

Cool, I'll definitely be stopping by, tho I'm not really an SHF guy anymore. The store layout looks very similar to the layout for the nyc popup store they did when Godzilla vs Kong came out.

This is SO GREAT!!!! More SHF!!!! Come to L.A.!
This is my favorite company. I love their scale and engineering. The toy selection is light these days, but probably good because of all this other stuff that came out over the last few years, I hope to collect more in the future. MORE TMNT! Give us Shredder at least! You already made it, finish! Oh and Casey and April would be amazing. |

Went up there today to snap some pics and buy some goodies. Very well done space, I hope they do well and make it work. Exclusive Mando and Challenger Goku are here in the TO DO pile. |

Cool, it's only a few blocks from where I work so I'll def be checking it out. But I'll probably still buy SHF from online retailers because Manhattan stores tend to overcharge by quite a bit lol.

Cool deal. When they put out prototypes of early stuff you can be our lifeline for pics hehe. I don't mind going up but it's a two hour drive each way, best to save for bigger events.

Haha did I just get involuntarily drafted into something? I guess I'll look out for exclusive events from now on.

Thank you for the photos.
Is this a busy retail area in NYC? The news is sort of jarring to me, after venturing into the old tourist precinct of downtown Vancouver (aka "Gastown") recently and finding my old favorite collector places (comics, models, D&D) shuttered. |

It's only a 25 minute train ride away for me, so I'm sure I'll be stopping by eventually. I see d amazing in some of those pics lol. |

Of course never expectations, but if you are in the area, no one here will complain. Quote:
It's cool. It's like a SDCC booth setup in a store, plus some goods you can pick up and buy right there. For me who does shows and hardcore fans, it's cool, but I think the benefit is catching walker-bys who are casually into these lines and go "oh shit". Easy hook. Saw it happen just while I was standing outside there a bit. |

It being NYC wonder how long before they switch to online only & just have voucher cards in the store. That’s the future of coastal city retail. Or they’ll just lose a lot of stock.

Yeah that day was reservation and press, so it may have been set up differently. There is a lot of stuff exposed so I can see them switching layouts up.

What a subtle partisan jab at NYC and other “coastal cities.” Aren’t you the “Target is disgusting for selling PRIDE mech” guy that had a bunch of comments scrubbed recently? Be careful consuming partisan "news"/entertainment and regurgitating it. Crime is largely flat year over between 2022 and 2023 in NYC. Burglary is down 12.5% and grand larceny (theft totaling more than $1,000) is also down. “Coastal cities” are not the wastelands that some would have you believe. How do I know this? I’ve lived in coastal cities (both in NYC and only ever 40 mins out from NYC) my entire life and crime here doesn’t feel demonstrably worse than it did when I was a child. The funniest part of all of this is that we ‘city-dwellers’ are unperturbed by life in rural America; we don’t sit around complaining or tearing at other parts of the U.S. as there are too many other things to do and be preoccupied with, such as living life and being happy. The store will be fine. I’ll report back here with factual deets after I visit, which should (hopefully) assuage your fears.

Congrats SHF! Having that retail space in Times Square is amazing. Retail is so hard. I hope it's a sign action figures are taking a more prominent role in our society and becoming accepted by the masses as an art like any other.
All the properties I cared about aren't really there any more sadly. Hopefully the NYC location will bring back, and start new, runs of the properties I loved so much. Star Wars, TMNT, Street Fighter. We need E. HONDA! And, where was Indiana Jones in the store? Come on! |
