This whole dilemma made me think of this story I remember reading a couple years ago. Basically, this guy would change the prices of the items he was buying and then re-sell them on eBay for a huge profit. Somewhere they had the security footage of him doing it. But he got caught!!!!

I would like to chime in on this 'fake' coupon dilemma...
I was going to use the coupon this week but after seeing a few links relating that this coupon is a 'fake/fraud', I changed my mind in using it. The risk of getting caught is not worth having a criminal record as your life may be ruined by a 'silly' mistake of not knowing. Every transaction is recorded either it be via cc/debit use or video surveillance. So, if the company wants to heavily pursue this 'illegal' activity on a consumer, I'm sure they will find a way to dig through their transaction records. "It's better to be safe than sorry."

You clearly looked over the lol that followed that sentence and your being a jerk about it so I'm done. This is what you get when you try to share something whith the community. The only thing that got my "panties in a bunch" is your rude and crass behavior. I do believe an apology is in order. Good day to all.

P.S. Thank you Staff for taking down the coupon pic.

Just what I thought, come on is saving 5-10 bucks really worth feeling uncomfortable or even worse being questioned if it ever gets to the store that they are fraudalent? We are all grown ups and should know how to handle situations like these, not to egg people on and tell them to use cash to avoid getting caught.

Think what ever you want. I personally don't think I was being a jerk with my comment. But hey it's the interwebz and people are always crying about little things. You also clearly over looked the comment where I thanked you for posting the coupon in the first place. Its the internet man. Get over it.

I agree these are probably being misused but if the bar code is scanning in as a $5 off coupon it must have been legit at some point. I think anyone who used them previous to today could point to this thread and show they had reason to believe it was legit. Going forward could be trouble. I'm glad I didn't use any.

Let's see... $7.99 for a figure... $5 off... and you're asking is it worth it? Some of us don't make a whole hell of a lot of money, and these coupons were going to be manna from heaven. Morally it's wrong to keep using these things, and I won't. But realize that this isn't trivial to some of us, we kinda needed these to be real.

Just did this! Got variant spidey, variant skaar, and colored srange (+ an AIM soldier for fun) all for 10 bucks after the Buy 1 Get 1 free AND hasbro coupon. I understand it's cheaper if you do 2 at a time, but didn't wanna go back through the line twice.

Also, why is it wrong to use? If it's legitimately scanning, I don't see why it shouldn't be ok to use. I did not alter this coupon in any way so I have no idea personally if it's a "scam", but I'm not turning down $5 off after I've spent thousands on this product.. loads of time rebuying a crap wolverine/spidey/iron man just to get the other figure it comes with.

There's a link on page two showing that it's a fake.

And if you'd like, I'll take those extra Iron Man, SPidey and Wolverine figs off your hands *cheesy grin* I need more custom fodder.

You took what I said out of context. Whether you make a whole lot of money or not, buying each figure for 8-10 bucks and building a large collection is expensive. After building my entire toy collection, I dont even want to calculate how many G's i've spent so far.
With that being said, I was saying that saving 5-10 bucks is not worth having that monkey on your back of doing something illegal whether you are going to be blind to the coupons being fakes or not. Again, knowing that im using an illegal coupon at a store that I frequent quite often not only by myself but with my family and even having a low percentage chance that someone might question me if i did use the coupons is not worth it at all. Especially for saving ONLY 5-10 bucks. If its really that big of a deal than maybe you shouldnt be buying them in the first place or choose another hobby. My 2 cents for all its worth.

Both my parents are toy collectors. My dad did Hot Wheels and POTF Star Wars, my mom did vintage Fisher Price. They got me hooked when I was 3 (I considered myself a collector as a small child). I am however getting rid of a lot of the other things I collected so I can have more room for this and more peace of mind. Action figures are easy to pack up and move. Rocks, bottles, records, patches are not so much.

my name is Michael, and I'm addicted to owning things. =/

its great to be collector, dont be a hoarder. Every collector should take a few steps back from their collection every once in a while and say "How much is enough and is this healthy for me?"

Good advice but at the same time, where is the line between collector and hoarder? From the outside lookin in someone might look like a hoarder and they would probably consider themselves completist.

After re-arranging my collection, i've decided to sell off some of my MU and Marvel Showdown because of this reason of having too much and not even being able to display them all.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, if I've handled my business and I'm not hurting anyone then so what? We only get one run at this crazy life, do what makes you happy! I only collect 3.75 Marvel. I could be addicted to heroin or gas powered toy cars!

I'm currently reading Everything to do with Cable and Hope. Honestly, I love seeing Cable as a parental figure, its really cool to see that side of him.

Oh, Duane Swierczynski's two year run was freakin' spectacular! But my favorite authors are Kurt Vonnegut (RIP) and Richard Dawkins.

Comic-wise Jonathan Hickman consistently blows my mind!

Actually I dont even get out of bed anymore, I just lay in my bed and roll around all day with my Iron Man's, Spider man's and captain america toys!
This way there is no chance in me stepping on anything!
