Maybe Hasbro feels the same way I do about how they handle the characters appearances in the movies? Maybe it's time to use some actual costumes that aren't total (fill in the blank), and start to go with looks that toy buyers give a crap about. I'm really and truly happy about all the characters they're including, but how about at least a few 'classic' looks, and not all this made for whoever is producing and in that, trying to interpret what a comic book movie could and should be? First Class was a decent film, but how in the world can you take any or all of these great mutant characters and not be able to hit it out of the park?

So yeah! I was expecting yellow spandex!

Its pretty simple. Disney stepped in and ordered Hasbro not to support a film based line from a competing company.

I think that much like what you see with Superman/Batman being the flagship heroes for DC/Warner Bros., Spider-Man has been the face of Marvel for a long time, and in that, it would be 99% unavoidable to not make a line for their star. I'm sure it was through grit teeth in one or two meetings, but Spidey sells toys and who doesn't like dump trucks full of money? Right?

Also, with the Disney movies you definitely see it translated into the figures, albeit without any villains from GotG sadly, but the Spider-man Infinite only gave us Electro and a movie Spidey, the rest were from the comics and cartoons.

While the studios that produce the movies may be different, it's all still Marvel. You're basically suggesting that Disney is going with the "cut one's nose off to spite one's face" approach. There's too much money involved for Disney to be that petty and childish.

I'd like to see a day when all the New York heroes meet. You know? To fight Mole Man and his hordes or something like that. These companies that own different rights don't really do each other any favours, but a little collusion might go a long way.

I still think that Hasbro should have made a set of figures for First Class, obviously not all in movie form, but it was a great opportunity to make Shaw and classic Beast. They could have done a modern Havok, and used the Rogue sculpt. Nimrod BAF? If we don't get figures for DoFP, then I'll think something's up.

ML is stronger now and will be growing for awhile yet, I think we'll see the Warriors 3 and Odin (maybe from MS) with Thor 3. With Avengers 2, maybe another IronMan, Cap 3, Guardians 2, Antman, maybe another Hulk, Dr. Strange etc. there will be lots of opportunity to see many more figures from the Disney movies. Will X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic Four get the same treatment? I really hope so, because I think Hasbro ML's keep getting better and better.

We love to give these franchises our money, and usually with good reason, but if hope they don't think we're suckers in believing there just isn't any time to do proper waves of figures when they have rough scripts years in advance (unless they don't) and then maybe that explains a few things in itself.

That's enough rambling, right? Lol

I'd love to see that too. I also think it will eventually happen, due to Marvel now being owned/backed by Disney. There is no reason for Marvel to shop their IPs around anymore and as the current deals expire, I feel Marvel will have everything go back to in-house. It's just going to take time.

Hasbro actually gave a couple reasons why they didn't do a full line for First Class. One was because X3 didn't do very well and they weren't sure how well FC would perform (the more popular the movie, the higher the sales of product tie-ins). Another is that there were three Marvel films out that same year (2011) and Hasbro's Marvel department only had enough resources to focus on two of the three (Cap and Thor, specifically). That doesn't even account for the fact that the entire time, MU was still going strong.

In 2012, we only had two Marvel films: Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers. Both had full product lines and market push.

In 2013 we had three Marvel films again, but only one got a full-blown retail line (IM3). Wolverine ended up with a token wave of 3.75" figures, reused role-play toys and an online exclusive ML wave. Thor 2 was kind of in the same boat, aside from the ML figures. MU was still around, but on top of that we had the Avengers/SHIELD figures.

This year, we have four Marvel films: Cap 2, ASM2, GotG and DoFP. We've already seen toys for Cap and Spidey. Would it be that big of a surprise if there is very little in the way of products for GotG, considering the popularity of the first two and the relative niche status of GotG?
