They look really good with the exception of shane... that must be the actual shane figure and all the others are protos... mcfarlanes stuff always looks awesome in 6-12the inch scale. They just cant seem to pull off anything under 6. I will still buy them though because I am crazy.

They look really good, but I honestly don't see the point of the articulation (Except for Rick, considering he looks poseable). I mean with Shane, why give articulation to a figure you can only have in one pose? Looks more like a statue. They nailed Halo figures, why can't they nail these?

Oh, Mcfarlane what are you doing? Why put useless articulation and make them so small, Oh yeah the final product will look horrible too.

The Rick looks promising but I really wish they would just revert to the nerd hummels we all know and love. why add articulation to something that only looks good in one pose? I know McFarlane said it was so you could pick them up and play with them but that makes no sense. You can pick up NECA toys and play with them and also admire them in various poses. Look at the Hero Ash figure. Damn fine! I wish NECA had got the walking dead license instead o McFarlane. Even their worst quality figures were better than Mc stuff. The rejected zombie Ed you can score on ebay looks WAAAAY better than any of the McFarlane zombies have from the walking dead. And the Ed was pretty bad.
I am just glad I found the first wave at walmart prices and not $18-$20. I would TOTALLY pay $18-$20 for a 6-7 inch walking dead figure done right, but that may never happen.

I love the looks of all three zombies, especially the well walker. Shane and Rick, however, look pretty bad. I didn't think the sculpting could get worse than the wave 1 Daryl figure, but the two upcoming humans look much worse. I still plan to order a set of all five figures, so hopefully Shane and Rick look better in-hand, but if not I'll just trade or sell them.

Got my series 2 TWD figures and I am VERY pleased. McFarlane really stepped it up, so much so that I hope he may re-release the first wave somewhere down the line in hopes to not only make the Daryl figure less than $100 on ebay but also to correct the paint issues. There are still a few but they do not take away from the overall quality of these figures. The thing that hurts them the most is the paint aps. The sculpts look very great to me, but if you ever see someone with a 5 o'clock shadow and no eyebrows (like one of the ricks I found) you know something is a little off. He looked like Powder in a sherriffs hat. The Shane figures suffer from Groucho eyebrow syndrome, just a little too much. The only other thing was the joints on Rick's arms. They use a Revoltech-ish peg which is great but it makes the arms a little long at the wrists so it is a bit weird, and the sculpt on his free hand looks like a prosthetic hand instead of a natural relaxed hand- a fist may have been better. I know this seems like a lot but it is all really minor. The zombies are greatly improved- no more sloppy blood. Everything is pretty much spot on.
In short, McFarlane needs to work on the paint- hopefully it will be under control by wave 3.

They are really hit and miss. the ones I got in the mail were good but the ones in the store were terrible paint wise. They are good for customs though. Maybe McFarlane did not want the well zombie to look too much like the left 4 dead boomer by neca.
