I mean this WOULD be cool, with the pose and all, BUT his face seems very very VERY wrong and messed up.

Thats how Ron Lim drew him during the 90s so they're just staying close to the source material.

It's pretty good. There's a full page panel in the original storyline that depicts Thanos grinning with his hands raised, beckoning. I'm waiting for a statue of that.
