I've seen plenty of them too, but can't bring myself to actually buy one. Although the new promo might help. Newer cases of them now feature a manufacturer's coupon attached to the box for for $2 off instantly for any one Masher, $5 off any two and $8 off any three. Good till some time in June (I can't recall the specific date of expiration offhand).

These seem like the shitty IM3 Assemblers done right albeit somewhat cartoony looking.

That's how I've come to think of them, too.

I also find it interesting that Mattel's Total Heroes figures have a similar aesthetic, and are only lacking the gimmick. But imagine if they did....
