Write me a letter, sing me a song.

Tell me all about it and what I did wrong.

Meanwhile, I'll be doin' fine....

Then load my box, on the 309.

That'd be Lilah, from NECA's Jonah Hex series. She's usually dirt cheap on the secondary market, as is Jonah himself and the villain. I've never seen the film, and the figures desperately need more articulation, but they sure are photogenic!

Thanks. I put a lot of thought into my titles most of the time... even when I'm just stealing song lyrics.

Beautiful, Monte. I really dig what you're doing with the absence of color (certain pics) contrasted by the striking red of the queen xenomorph. Those Lone Ranger figs have much better articulation than I previously thought. You've got some cool posing going on in many of these photos! I especially enjoyed the shots of Ranger reloading while hiding behind a ridge and the "F'd up gods" image! Lastly, I think I'm learning the topography of these gorgeous settings at which you shoot your photos. Do you scout out favorite locales, or just hike until you arrive somewhere interesting?

Thank you, BlueMarvel!

Pixlr's Splash tool makes that partial color gimmick pretty easy. I use it a lot, probably more frequently than I should. Here are some Dick Tracy portraits that utilize the Splash tool:

Calling Dick Tracy! Come In, Dick Tracy! by Monte Williams, on Flickr

Dick Tracy Pulls Plug On Electric Menace! by Monte Williams, on Flickr

That's the 10,000-Volt Ghost from Scooby-Doo. I used Splash to suggest he's been de-powered.

Nine times out of ten I just use my reliable setting beneath the bridge. It's the brown, rocky backdrop that dominates my photostream, and I like it because the rocks work with figures of any scale, and they are always covered in shade because of the bridge, so lighting is never an issue.

I have an alley I use for urban settings, and some concrete platforms under the bridge perform the same function. For other outdoor settings, there's a waterfall I try to use sparingly, and miles and miles of cliffs and prairie-looking settings to choose from, but I usually stick with the rocks under the bridge unless I have a specific idea suited to something different.

Thanks again!

Love the old west stuff. Does anybody else have the old classic Louis L'Amour pocketbooks? I pulled my old box out of storage recently and started to go through it again. It's like reuniting with old friends.
