I used to do this all the time, but since I haven't had a job in forever I've sort of given up on desirable toys haha. When I did it I felt paranoid some collector spotted my deposit, but honestly now when I hunt for the MU Cables and other Moby Dicks of my dreams I don't go looking behind boxes too hard anyway. I think it is for the better that I stopped hiding toys because not only can collectors who deserve to buy them can find them, but kids can actually get what they want and enjoy them...which is the whole spirit of it all anyway.

Thoughts?

(Also, I can't believe it, but this is my first thread on the forum...I approve)

Personally I never liked the idea. Hiding stuff for fellow forum members or buddies is cool but hiding stuff when you are tight on funds and can't afford something probably means that you shouldn't be collecting in the first place and instead saving that money for other expenses.

i think the hiding stuff is risky. if you are looking for something, dont you look through all the figures in thr surrounding area incase its hiding?? if you know a store has something but cant get the money until the next day, or cant get down there. you can always reserve it. stores will usually hold stuff for atleast a day maybe 2 if you are lucky.

I have done this for collectors and a couple times when it was a couple days before payday. Not often, and not recently, as my job pays decent now.

Kinda lame. if you dont have the money to buy it then, then why are you looking at them? Now I admit however, there was a time my brother happened upon MU Blade, but he didnt have the money(He dosent collect but knows I do) he tells me and I tell him to hide it in the bike location in Walmart while I head over to get it cause he had to go. Does it count as this? I'd like to think not.
Do I find it funny whenever I find hidden staches? Oh hell yeah
Do you think I am beginning to sound like Robert Evans? You bet your sweet ass I am.

I've done it before, sometimes for other collectors, sometimes because I had to wait a day or two for payday. Usually it was only for a toy that I knew would disappear immediately if I didn't hide it. Most toys I just waited until I had the money.

Of course, some times this plan back-fired and I ended up not being able to get that toy later.

I don't really care either way. If you aren't going to go back and get your stash within a day or two then it's probably not a great thing to do. I spotted a Falcon at Target a couple of weeks ago and as I was walking to the cashier I realized I forgot my wallet, so I stashed Falcon, went home to get some $, and then went back over to Target and got him about an hour or two later. For the sake of an hour and a half I was ok with hiding him to avoid losing out to some bologna loving sweat-hog. If I just flat out didn't have money to spend I would've left him on the pegs.

I've done it before when I've gone to Toys R Us on truck day and they had too much for me to afford at that time. But never behind other figures. There's better hiding places for toys, even better than behind the panels above the aisles. Those get checked.

I don't do it anymore, however. I'm fortunate enough now to have a job that allows me to pretty much buy whatever I want, within reason.
