Between this and The Great Wall, what is up with big budget flops getting these detailed collector's figures?

I don't know who would want this after seeing that piece of shit film. Maybe if you absolutely must have a generic Scarlett Johansson figure?

Those may be flops here, but sad to say the U.S. is no longer the center of the universe. Film makers are realizing that there's a BIGGER audience count in China and Asia in general, and some of these films are geared toward that audience. And guess what? Toy makers and a LOT of toy buyers are in Asia also!

If you ever venture to these 1/6 figures websites and see what people do with their 1/6 female figures, YES, there are a LOT of people out there just salivating over this generic Scarlett Johansson figure!

I'm getting some of the The Great Wall figures, that at least was a good film. I just hope ThreeZero didn't pay much for the GitS license.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm sure it'll make a great base for a custom figure. That being said, I'd at least wait for this to inevitably hit clearance before pulling the trigger on it.

Because bangs?

The hair! I meant the hair!

Great Wall made a metric ton of money domestic and overseas, so I don't consider it a flop. While I haven't seen GITS in theater, it's gotten panned badly (60% on RT, 40% rotten from critics). And it's only made 39 million against it's production cost of 110, so....

The Great Wall did great in its native market: China (and also its primary target market: also China). It's a Chinese film made by the Chinese, intended for a Chinese audience, with a side of Hollywood fame thrown in there to try to appeal to the West. In that regard, it did exceptionally well.

GitS is a bit more murky, as even though the Japanese audience loved it, it didn't make too much money in Asia. Well, not enough to offset the US box-office bomb. People will buy the shit out of these merch though. I guess that's one way to recoup the film budget.

I haven't seen the movie and have no interest in the property whatsoever. I will say that this sculpt looks like Scarlett Johansson, something I find Hot Toys has not been able to achieve.

Anime never translates good into live action.

This I'll get if she is wearing her stealth suit under the jacket there. I actually enjoyed the movie. I don't know if it was up to par with the anime version but I thought the special effects were really good. Just my two cents there.

Threezero loves flops! TMNT CGI movies for example. Chappie was even a bit of a flop, though it's not a bad movie. Not really a figure warranted movie.

I'm definitely going to get this. I for one actually really liked the movie. Definitely way better then it's been given. Can't wait. I wonder if she has the White stealth suit too

Doesn't look like she has the stealth suit she wears in the film. Good looking figure but I was hoping she would have the stealth suit.

I know nothing about this character, but the designs are interesting and I like Scarlett Johansson generally. Is there a reason for the stain over her right shoulder?

I'd love to have a Batou figure. (Google search for Bateau talks about boats? Search for "Batou," he's the main result. So Batou it is.)
