Classics are showing up online at Target, however it's "out of stock online". Link

I also tried the "Find it in store"... no luck in my area
DPCI 242-19-1466
Target Mobile Site Find in Store

Hopefully these will release soon, I really want them!

I think I'm in the minority, but I'm not all that impressed with the look of the "classics" figures.
The new Turtles are pretty much the apex, and they're fantastic. But then the quality just kind of sharply drops off beyond that.

I still plan on getting the classics, but all of the photos of the new versions and seeing them in person really impressed me... and I like how they're "Turtle in-scale" with 6" figures.

I haven't opened yet, so I hope the quality isn't a let down. They look solid as hell in person, still packed, at least.

I've got a bad feeling that the Classics line won't be going any farther than the four Turtles as no one really seems to like them and any newer figures are dependant on good sales.

I think they will sell just great. I know tons of people who are excited for them.

The problem is they are too big. I think its obvious that Playmates planned to only do them and that's it. If they had even planned for the possibility of a future Shredder or other human they would have scaled the turtles down.

Even if they sell so well Playmates wants to do more I think an in scale Shredder would be bigger than a NECA figure. I can't see Playmates having the budget for that size, detail and articulation mode.

/educated guessing

That's an odd DCPI number. Wonder if its correct. Maybe Target screwed up the web listing?

I wouldn't be concerned about the TMNT Classics selling.

When these were first announced we were told that if the initial Classics figures sold well enough than other characters would be made. So the hope( and plan) is there but it all relies on how well the sales go for the Turtles themselves.

We just escaped TRU with the last Ninja Turtle figure they had(excluding vehicles). We got Donatello(our favorite) and it wasn't even in the right section, it was just laying there near the WWE figures. When we went to pay for it the check out girl asked if there were anymore back there because people were asking for them all day.

Yeah, but that, while possibly true, is also marketing speak for "just buy these, nerd."

:P

not trying to be cynical, just observing.

That's probably the date they are resetting shelves internally. Dumb employees will confuse that with a street date. Lazy employees will lie and say its a street date.

I got mine from a fresh case at TRU. There was no street date on the box.

I kind of feel sorry for the kids. I think the only ones buying these now are adults who grew up on the Original Ninja Turtles. The way things are going, the kids they are actually meant for won't even get to play with these Awesome Figures. I hope they release more of wave 1 after the new cartoon comes out. If they don't, the new fans will be left high and dry.

at least the stores will see there's a decent demand to begin with:
"we're all sold out of the TMNT stuff and we haven't even stocked the shelves yet."
"wait, wut?"
"yeah we were all set to put em out in their own space and there's like no cases left"
"huh, well.... dang."

also thinking distribution won't be a problem since my target had sold through the first case that wasn't put out and got a new one which i got a few figures from a week later.

I had somehow missed Kraang, went back to a different Target that also did not have them out. Did the same thing I did the first time and another employee went in back and got Kraang for me.

I just opened these guys and I'm pretty impressed. These figures are very well made. They're very durable (strong, solid joints), and have a nice compromise of articulation, detail, and playability. I knew they didn't have rocker ankle articulation, but what they do have works really well... and I was pleasantly surprised to find out they have wrist swivels (someone else probably noted that already, but I didn't read it, and pics to me looked like they didn't).

Big thumbs up from me. These figures are good for children and collectors. Excellent job, Playmates.

..now I just need to find their leader.
