I have found myself trying to hone my Batman 89 figure for years now going back and revisiting methods and techniques. This time I want to go back and do it once and for all... make a mold, graft-cast directly onto my working figures. So I'm starting with my base, a Survival Suit Bruce Wayne from the Movie Masters line and sculpting my details in Apoxie Sculpt, letting it cure then going back with sandpaper and exacto for refining some details.

The head comes from a gumball "Action Figure" container from Batman Returns. I bought a whole case of these guys because it seemed like the best price option at the time. So now I have this overstock of gumball figures that I may never end up using but I also have plenty of backups incase I really take this one to the toilet.

The head is placed on the neck stump of the figure and then hot glued in place. Then I move to giving the outside of the head a little more body and shape. I then continue to sculpt the cowl scallops into place. Once fully refinied I can make a mold of this sculpt in place and when casting I simply lock my figure in and fill with resin. I usually put plastic wrap over the figure so that they fit but are not locked together so I can place the cape in between later.

The rest of the armor (gauntlets, shinguards, and chest) are also in Apoxie Sculpt. I'm hoping to see this go smoothly so maybe... I never have to sculpt this figure again?
