also not really a "toy line" since licensing includes many other toys

maybe Mattel will have more news by NYCC? for sure we will see something at NY Toy Fair in February

As a way for other companies to help finance expensive toy toolings; include off screen (retro) items as accessories. Items similar to this tray,

If this is done as well as the recent Jurassic Park / World series, in a great 3 3/4" scale, then this might have legs...

Please do NOT have over priced deluxe figures with motorcyle. They shelf warm so bad, retailers will lessen the shelf space, the following year. If higher ups at Mattel still want motorcycles, sell it in the figure assortment. Just like "The Meat" in this action figure line,

Steve Stevens and his 80s hair. The Corsair A-7 jet next to him didn't get lots of movie screen time. Yet in the classic music video the A-7 basked next to Steve's Grammy award winning glory.

Don't forget a PSA/DNA autograph of Stevens to help sell this unsung A-7 jet.

Steven's bad ass music video might also have a F9F Panther / Cougar jet. Its 2 jets in 1. Only difference is the Panther is a straight wing jet and the Cougar is a swept wing jet. Here's the hilarious part. Its GIJoe's very 1st ever jet! A jet Mattel can now make to troll Hasbro (see Post #54) or at least behoove them to finally do better for Joe.

Looks like there's a lot more Migs in the Top Gun video games. I don't have a lot of consoles so I don't know which jets are there. If you find out feel free to let all know.

New trailer...

Too bad the Navy couldn't just keep upgrading the F-14 though... like keep retrofitting modern parts and stuff on it. I loved the part in the trailer when Maverick came on the radio the same way Viper did back in the day... aw hell... loved the whole damn trailer.

Disc / figure sets when the Blu ray is made. As part of the "extras" footage most discs come with, Mattel can contribute footage showcasing the making of the toyline!

Wow, a toy that launches pointy die-cast metal jets into the air! I see no way that could end poorly!

Mattel will have a press conference Monday morning says Pixel Dan. Pass on PD's message to the likewise concerned 3.75 collectors on the 'Tank's thread = Mattel Top Gun - HissTank.com

I don't mean this to be rude but I think some people were expecting a bit too much out of this. Top Gun is not an evergreen brand with tons of kid appeal like Jurassic Park or (I'm sure Hasbro is hoping at least) Ghostbusters. I don't think the product roll-out was ever gonna be as expansive or all-encompassing as some were hoping.

I'm just saying on Hisstank I was seeing people acting like this was gonna be a massive 3.75 inch line with a full array of characters and vehicles to replace GI Joe, and that always seemed like a pipe dream.

Wow. That was very ...... Mattel, so disappointing. I expected at least a couple 3.75 inch figures and scale planes, but ok.

I dont think anyone was e expecting an evergreen multiyear line. But Maverick is one of the tent pole movies this summer. They're promoting it heavily already. I dont think it's that much of stretch to expect to see more than 2 models, one of which is from the current movie and some matchbox cars.
I'm not saying we should expect a 3.75 line. I'm saying I'm a share holder I'm questioning the acquisition of the license of what looks to be one of the years big properties and producing so little.
