Very different aircraft. The yf-23 was the competitor to the F-22 Raptor. The F-35 was the winner of the Joint Strike Fighter program. They are both 5th gen, but I wouldn't say in any way the F-35 was inspired by the YF-23. It would be like saying the F-16 was inspired by the F-15.

I'm curious about their choice with the black project recon plane. Darkstar is a known project but for an unmanned drine recon plane.

I mean, looking at the robot mode shown on the box, it's less "Tom Cruise action figure" and mote "typical Transformers robot whose head is based on Maverick's helmet from Top Gun".

So, in a way, yeah, kinda, but also kinda not.

Just sent a request to Hasbro's "Fan 1st Friday" asking if they can create (another) TOPGUN/G.I.Joe crossover.

Mattel can recycle this can, and create a new TOPGUN 3.75" can! Long lines of new female collectors will surely help buy / sell these. The sequel has been postponed, for a year 2021. Ample time for Hasbro or Mattel to consider a new 3.75" toyline.

Coca Cola "can" actually do the same thing, too. Team up with Mattel or Hasbro to make a cool 3.75 inch figure (same way Barbasol cans sold that Jurassic figure)...

Glen Powell of the new sequel is also in the new toon Camp Cretaceous. Mattel does both Jurassic + TOPGUN toys. If they do a Powell figure for the prior they can borrow the noggin for another Powell figure for the latter...

Barbie Signature 1/6 scale TOPGUN figures will be on sale Oct. 3rd. If it sells well others will follow. Classic 12 inch G.I. Joe fans are expressing interest in this new Mattel line, since Hasbro no longer makes Classic 12 inch Joes. So if you know a longtime 12" Joe fan, let them know about this brand new premium toyline. Hopefully it sells well enough to make thee lovely Monica Barbaro!

Looks like Barbie has a female aviator's uniform ready for Miss Barbaro to borrow from the prior's basic brand. Since the seuqel's toys will grace Mattel's more premium "Barbie Signature" brand, these basic uniforms may likely see more attention to detail...
