Thoughts? My thoughts are I would like to see active and constructive participation throughout the forums. My thoughts are that I would like people actively discuss the topics provided via the members of the forum as well as the news that is coming in. My thoughts are that I would prefer not to see someone coming in to troll and derail a thread where we are seeking constructive feedback.

Ah ok. I don't know the logistics of it from your side but I'll take your word for it The side link is a good way to accomplish nearly the same thing I was hoping for.

I happen to be a member of a few unrelated forums, and they have the option for prefixes at the beginning of each thread title. They are like " [prefix] DCUC Batman Articulation" or whatever. Wouldn't that help sort which is DC, MOTU, Starwars or whatever and avoid the discomfort of filtering out the threads that people aren't going to find interesting?

Ok well here's a thought of mine; YOU should not be allowed to post in public forums because you're socially inept. Stick to the tech side of things and let one of the other guys be the "PR" guy. Ever read a statement from The Toy Guru when people complain to him? Well, that's you.

We also did that, and when given the option - people didn't use it. And when we forced it, 50% of the prefixes were chosen improperly, just using the default first one in the list or "other".

i feel bad for the DC guys, but it just goes to show: stop lurking, post and participate in the forums, then you'll get some run. show some serious passion. that's what us Marvel geeks have been doing - or at least that's what i've been doing since i started posting more actively on this site.

what bugs me is how people are saying that its so "inconvenient" to "search" for something. i mean, srsly people? inconvenient to click and find something? set a bookmark. add a page to your favorites. do something about it, just don't whine about it.

over on HT, i remember when the Marvel Universe thread was dead in the water. crap. (that's not to say its pure quality now, but that's another story) - a few passionate people (myself included) started posting more often in there and what happened? a Marvel thread is now giving a Joe-centric site a run for its money. why?

passion. participation. traffic.

I have to say as I did on the first page, the recent posts button says it all,if you cant find it in there then the thread isnt getting attention or traffic, like SH0CKWAVE said, post more,be as passionate about dc as you are about complaing and it will more then likely change.

Don't get your hopes up, DC fans. Burying current intermittent discussions in a catch-all feed is not likely to increase topic-specific traffic.

This always bugged me because my link to this site is right to the Marvel forums, but by doing this I often miss out on Marvel news if I forget to check for it.

Wouldn't you increase traffic to a line's forum if the news was within that line's forum instead of the news section?
I too miss new items frequently when they aren't cross-referenced somehow in the old dedictaed discussion areas. This was usually done by a mod or "news staff" user. The Marvel threads are busier so I am sure these get lost in the shuffle more often, but I still don;'t understand why this is in a different area. Same topic / should be same forum.

Subscribing to an interesting thread only works if you have already seen the thread.

There are currently more Marvel fans on this site. The DC users that exist post regularly, but the only really active topics are 6-inch DC Classics and DC Direct figures.

I am a fan of both Marvel & DC, but only collect 6-inch figs. The crowd of 3.75-inch collectors far outweighs the rest of us, and Marvel is the only source for good 3.75-inch stuff. It isn't about passion. It's about metrics.

This move will put the fork in DC metrics.

wait what?how is marvel the "only good source" for 3 3/4 scale figures?what about star wars or gijoe?there just does not happen to be a 3 3/4 dc line, but to say its the only good source is not true.

OK, here is a POTENTIAL option for the hardcore DC folks. Let me know if you like how this works, and if we should continue to utilize it:

dc toys - Toyark Toy Forums - Threads Tagged with dc toys

This is the Tag system. It gives you a permanent URL you can bookmark. It shows all threads marked with the tag "dc toys".

This will pull in threads with that tag from anywhere on the site. Right now, it is pulling tags I just applied to News & Rumors discussion AND General Discussion areas. Not complete yet

Now, as staff, we can make sure to add tags to the news discussion threads we create. But, for general discussion threads created by you guys, it would be your responsibility to tag the threads properly. Every DC Toys related thread would need to have dc toys added as a tag.

You can (or will be able to after I change settings) adjust tags for threads you didn't start. So if you see someone starts a DC thread, and doesn't tag it, you can go in and do it yourself.

If this is desired, and used properly, I can return the DC icon to the sidebar, allowing you to easliy click and see all recent DC discussion.

Same goes for MOTU and Star Wars. About 10 pages from News and Rumors and General Discussion each have been scanned and tags applied for threads so far:

motu toys - Toyark Toy Forums - Threads Tagged with motu toys
star wars toys - Toyark Toy Forums - Threads Tagged with star wars toys

One thing that can not return using this method - sidebar block with last 5 DC threads - like the Marvel one now. Functionality is not available to do that with tags. But I can hard-code a pretty image to the DC Toys tag page.

Let me know if you think this is worth perusing, or you still just think we suck and this doesn't matter cuz you won't be here.

Later!

After what a fairly new user said [forgot to quote] that by the the mods logic, everything should be under General Action Figure discussion. It is funny, and awesome, how one of our newest members is the only one speaking sense.

Gi Joe has its own site fallowing, the fact that it isn't included here is not surprising at all. Star Wars has becoming re release upon re release, for the most part. Having A FEW good figures in the VC doesn't make it a good source. In other words, I half agree with both of you :P.

yeah well your dc has nothing to offer 3 3/4 scale wise and star wars has been hitting it out of the park for 30+ yrs,and I reffered to gijoe because dude said MU is the only good offering 3 3/4 scale wise,im not talking about site or thread following,go back and re read the original post and maybe you will understand.

Well, personally, I do find this inconvenient. This post is not directed in any one person's direction, but if the shoe fits... It's easy to be biased here when you're primarily a Marvel fan and this doesn't affect you. I'm sure if the Marvel section as merged into the General Discussion, you'd be singing a different tune. Some of these comments are just ignorant. This isn't Marvel vs. DC or Hasbro vs. Mattel.

We're all collectors here and before you start slinging mud about how everyone who collects DC and MOTU and everything else deserves to have everything dumped into one confusing mess because we "lack passion", think about what you're saying. This isn't "Haha, Marvel wins. Take that!". Seriously, what are you guys, 5 years old?

In the past few months, I've been really getting into DC and MOTU and have been posting on those threads as well. Quite frequently, too, I might add. So there's only about 5 regular posters on DC and the other topics? Well you're also forgetting that those posters include myself, Tiberius, Crazy Jetty, kenm2474, M3T4L V1KING, DogFashionDisco, etc.

We FREQUENT these boards. We're active users. We post regularly. I've even been noticing that there are some new sign ups who are getting in on the DC action as well as the other forums like Quipp and ToyAddict. It's growing and now you're nipping it before it gets a real chance to take off. Sometimes if feels like some of the moderators are so out of touch with their community, they're living in their own world. This seems more like a "control" thing that a "constructive" or "functional" thing.

I used to be able to choose if I wanted to talk Marvel, DC, MOTU and everything else was condensed enough that I could pick out things like Ninja Turtles and Streetfighter and other things that I was somewhat interested in. Now you're only giving me two choices. ToyArk or look for another forum that better specializes in DC toys or MOTU toys and spread myself over a span of other pages. This is not a big deal for me to do but I like the familiar community of ToyArk. I can't speak for everyone else, but you're going to start losing some of my traffic to some of the other forums I've only just been poking my head in for a peek.

Agreed, sorry. I still miss the DC section though. Is there any chance that the DC Appreciation Thread could get a sticky and possibly a title change to "DC 6" Toylines Appreciation Thread"? or something like that?

Honestly I don't care at this point anymore. I still say merge EVERYTHING and we can just FAVORITE what we are active in. All I really care about the Appreciation thread because it is extremely active. I asked for a sticky for new users can come and see what it is all about. Do whatever is easy for you sir.

Im not a DC fan,but in the interest of fairness i say do it,at least something has been done to alleviate the lack of DC support, you can look upon this as a chance to see just how much traffic the DC threads do get,and if it does work it could be used for other areas of the site in future couldnt it??
