Hey all

2023 we created running threads for a couple busy topics for the year. So all Marvel Legends posts for the year, linked from front page to same thread etc. 2024 we expanded that to include more lines, brands and themes.

Questions:

Would you like to continue that method?

Would you like to continue a yearly refresh, new threads for each just for 2025, or keep them running indefinitely? AKA, keep these, but remove the year from title.

If so, would you like any others themes not in existence already?

If none of the above, would you prefer we go back to new thread for each individual news item? I personally don't want to do that, but if there is major YES I will consider it.

Even if we go back to new thread method, normal flow has shown folks still cross post in multiple similar threads, or bump old ones when new ones should be used. So personally I lean towards the mega thread per topic.

Any other input on this, sound off too. Small batch here for chit chat, but a good group. And lots of lurkers reading, so want to be as easy to use as possible.

Later!

The way it is now is quite nice and streamlined. If it were up to me, I would keep the current threads going and remove the year.

Also keep the megathreads and just remove the year. Since like the DC Mcfarlane pages there are a lot of leaked lists that came out this year that might pertain to 2025

Also for keeping the current threads and removing the year. It's really hard to put a hard stop at the end of the year when a lot of discussions applies toward upcoming figures in the next year.

I know you guys don't get "thanks" enough, so I just want to thank you all Admins for all the work that you do!

I think you strike a nice balance between ease of navigation and ease of administration. The only thing I might put in a belated letter to Santa would be a wish to save a step by jumping automatically to the last / latest page. (The way it is now, we have to click first on the topic, and then click to load a separate page with the most recent posts.)

Regardless of what you decide, I appreciate what you do and find it beneficial as a collector.

Maybe its different going from article to forum but, on the forum itself you can click on the last page of each thread to go straight there.

Yeah, front page usually links to page one, for our own ease when creating the stories. At times, if we have time and it makes sense, we deep link from front page to "place in the thread talking about this new stuff". But, I'm usually pressed for time and don't do that. I'll keep it in mind to try to do that more.

Full "last page" prob won't be done on front page for simplicity's sake, but you can get there from forum main:

I know, very 2004 little icons and text, but it's there.

And, I see removing years is leading so far. Everyone feel free to keep sounding off, I'll be acting on it closer to end of year.

First thanks for running the site, I really am glad there's a good general toy news site out there!

For the topics I kind of like breaking them up by year, but it's not a big deal either way. I like how the first post has every post regarding that topic, but lets say in 3 years, that post might be just forever long with some popular ones like NECA and hard to look through. You could put the year headings on them, and I think having the story's date listed if possible would be good.

General comment:
Occasionally BBTS or some other site will do a mega sale with a ton of stuff and you'll have a news story, but there's not usually a forum post listed on them to discuss, maybe I'm guessing they're ads but sometimes discussion would help to figure out what's a good deal out there. Maybe even a general ads/deals discussion thread.

I'll echo that comment. Thanks everyone for all the work on this site. I'm not sure where else I would even go, even though my collecting habits have changed to primarily DC related stuff. We used to have Raving Toy Maniac, but I don't recall much, if any, of a "forum" at least in the early years. The usenet newsgroups were a lot of fun (RTM and RTAF). I regularly check this site (more than once daily) for any updates. So THANK YOU ALL.

Hope you all have a great year.

I think it would be cool to have a "Things on Discount" thread. To post links to, and discuss things that are on sale. I don't have time to check all the sites all the time, and right now, you have to check specific threads (like GIJoe, Marvel, etc) to find links to stuff that are cheap. Sometimes, certain things I might be interested if they're cheap enough. So a central place to post discount links would be very helpful.
