Earlier today I dropped by to post a thread about the Skeletor fogure for MOTUC line. Since my first visit, I've been trying to set up the avatar and other stuff without much luck. Can anyone enlighten me as to how this is done, since the website is totally different than TFW2005 and Hisstank? Your help is greatly appreciated. I just want y'all to have a great day.
Cheers, Robert |

This site will be the top three to visit. I like it. Thank you for the well wishes. Once I have the first one done next month, the big one will be next--describing a new species found in the US. My name along with two others will have our names behind the new species name as we describe it. Five others will follow that. |

Actually, I haven't posted anything on the details of my research on TFW. I am describing a new species found so far in six states. The beetle will be named in honor of my grandmother who passed away 10 years ago. The other six papers are describing the immature stages and life histories of some false click beetles in the US. I have also started to survey the false click beetles for Hawai'i as well. My goal in life is to have at least 30 papers published in some scientific journals, over the course of my lifetime. |

Congrats on your discovery. I always find it intriguing that people still find new species out there. ![]()

Thank you. Yeah.. the discovery was an accident. It acutally took six years to realize the beetle was new to science. I had it mis-identified as another species, based on the opinion of my colleague in Helsinki. We are at the tip of the iceberg. There are a little more than 1 millon species described so far. It is estimated there are at least 30 million species of insects yet to be discovered. We as entomologists have our work cut out for us. Anyone actually can find a new species, the trick is finding a specialist to determine if the critter is new to science. One of the perks if someone finds one, usually will have a new species named after the person who discovered it. In the case of new species I am working on, There are too many people who found it at the same time. So instead of using one of them, I though it would be nice to dedicate it in honor my grandmother. Everyone who are working on this project are in agreement with the proposed name.

Wow that's awesome, you have a course and a goal and naming it after you grandmother is great. I haven't seen a click beetle up close for years. Is what your researching a mutation or a whole different species altogether?

The one I am researching is a whole different species altogether. False click beetles are quite different from a regular click beetles. One has to closely examine the mico-details of the insect to separate these groups.
