Crazy that the gun embargo extends to even the most outlandish sci fi guns. Some of Bloodsport's weapons don't resemble actual firearms at all. I guess this means that a McFarlane Mr. Freeze wouldn't even get a cold gun.

I hope the movie is a big hit and there are more McFarlane figures, at least the red/black leather version of Harley Quinn. It's the best live action Harley costume so far, and they made the dress version.

That's pretty dope. I knew it was functional under there so that's cool.

Since there's been confusion back and forth about this, I finally went and found the interview with Mez Markowitz from Mezco Toyz back in March where he says firmly and plainly that there is an embargo on guns in DC merch under a certain pricepoint:

https://youtu.be/GuN7LmiFw0s&t=4350

The link should be timestamped, but in case the timestamp doesn't work, it's at 1:12:30 of the interview.

I would certainly hope that Freeze's cold-gun usually looking like a sci-fi hairdryer would save it from this rule, plus it doesn't fire bullets and that might be a major factor. I can't speak with certainty about Bloodsport's sci-fi weapons in the movie but it's safe to assume he still uses them to outright kill people with lethal projectiles (maybe still just bullets) and therefore they'd be subject to this policy. Arkham Knight Red Hood uses sci-fi guns but they still fire bullets and that upcoming import figure of him had to swap his guns for weird laser swords.

Just saw the movie, pretty damn good.

Now I want an in-scale Starro Connect To Build figure. 6 or 7 feet tall should do it. Can pack it out over the next 30 years of figures or so.

Also, the alt weapons all make sense based on movie, but lack of guns still poo poo. Especially the javelin which I don't hate anymore.

I just watched the movie and I really enjoyed it. Definitely been one of the top films of the year for me. It's really a huge travesty to me if Rat Catcher 2 doesn't get a figure. Now I'm definitely more glad than ever to be getting Polka Dot Man and also I've taken a full turn on my interest in Harley Quinn and Bloodsport. It's way too bad the likeness sucks so much on the unhelmeted Bloodsport because I would've if preferred him that way. I hope that if Rat Catcher Dos or another character gets a release that they make a mini Starro as an accessory sort of like a mask that can slip over different action figures' faces.

Having also seen (and enjoyed) the movie, I'd really like a Ratcatcher with a little Sebastian. I'm also now locked in for wanting a gold label King Shark.

Okay real talk, what do we have to do to get this changed? This no-gun rule is incredibly ridiculous, especially for a movie that's R-rated and involves blood and guts (and worse!) flying everywhere. There are so many DC characters that use guns, and I'm legitimately really bothered about this - what can be done here, exactly?

Nothing. They're taking the stand that "guns kill people in real life more than anything, so no guns for the kids because then they'll want real guns". They're fine with making figures of psychotic murderers because those aren't as common so the kiddies I guess won't be that influenced to become psychotic killers?

Kind of feel Marvel is also doing this. Outside of The Hood, recent Black Widow Marvel Legends have guns stuck in the holster, US Agent and Taskmaster likewise, Zemo was given a Sci Fi laser pistol when he had a real gun in the Disney+ show, Bucky gets ZERO accessories, etc. Even their lone real gun user in the MCU is basically gone.

I wouldn't be surprised considering we just saw how Disney can force all their partners to dump something they don't want in one of their brands.

Marvel certainly has a policy, too, though it's the same one they've had for years regarding action figures and who can and can't be seen with realistic firearms.

As for "nothing", that's not true. You can all do something. You can just not buy these figures. Which yeah, I know, saying "don't like it, don't buy it" sounds like I'm being dismissive, but I'm not. The truth is if you want Warner and other companies to listen and possibly reevaluate their stance (at least in regard to the R rated guys), then poor sales and the almighty dollar are what it's going to take to do it.

Marvel definitely has some kind of policy, but it's nowhere near as ridiculous as DC's for the most part. There are stll quite a decent number of proper guns released in Marvel Legends every year, the policy mostly seems to be "try to use fewer realistic guns and maybe more sci-fi laser guns in their place; no firm prohibition, tho".

It's mostly that kid-friendly and even PG-13 characters can't have them. Basically a big no for Spider-Man, X-Men, and MCU, it's space weapons for those characters. But R rated characters like Punisher are fine.

DC/Warner should adopt something similar. Batman characters probably no (sorry Red Hood), but The Suicide Squad should be a yes.

Why do both the mass retail unmasked Thomas Wayne Batman and Target exclusive masked Thomas Wayne figures have a pair of very realistic pistols included, despite this anti-gun rule? And yet we can't get the Fortnite-ish modular weapon for Bloodshot?

Saw the movie Friday and loved it more than expected. I really hope this isn't a one-and-done wave of figures for McFarlane and he does a 2nd wave to finish out the main cast. A 2nd wave with Rick Flagg, The Thinker, Ratcatcher 2, and maybe Harley in her first red/black bodysuit outfit would be perfect, along with a BAF Starro. Starro would obviously be way underscaled, but I think it could still be impressive even standing at 10-12" tall. I wonder if Rick Flagg would come with a sword too instead of guns.

Those came out before this policy was implemented (Target exclusive was last Fall and the unmasked came out in Spring), it only seems to have started taking effect pretty recently.

I hope some 3rd party group makes an accessory pack because the no-guns policy is just ridiculous.

I feel like if we get Starro it'd be better to just go straight to a deluxe megafig, like the Snyder Cut Darkseid and Steppenwolf, rather than make a potentially smaller one to be divided among a wave. Even getting another full 4 figure wave seems like a little bit of a stretch. I'm just doubting there's a big demand for Thinker out there. I'm also not sure if Rick has enough popularity to get a figure. He's the plain army guy (or guy in a T-shirt later) surrounded by the more interesting looking costumed characters. Supposing though that we do get a Rick Flag he obviously won't have any guns unless that policy is thrown out fast, but I don't really know then what they'd decide to throw in since a sword doesn't fit the character. Peacemaker and Bloodsport did use swords in the movie but the only non-gun weapon I remember Rick using was a broken off piece of pipe so we'd get a figure of Joel Kinnaman in a T-shirt with a pipe, not the coolest sounding toy but hey maybe it would sell. I definitely want a Ratcatcher though, and with the rest of the main team already covered in the build-a wave she could be a regular assortment figure (with a Sebastian accessory).

I wonder if technically McFarlane themselves could sell us an accessory pack through their new online store. Like the guns they would have included with these DC figures but just now sold as an online item and no longer under the DC brand since it's just an assortment of weapons which happen to be compatible with their figures.

I want to repaint my Polka Dot Man's dots to be more movie accurate. I'm having trouble finding clear photos of the suit, especially the back.

Is PDM's right hand removable to swap the open for closed gauntlet?
