This is exciting! The show ever since Samurai has had a glaring dip in quality and I think this is just what the series needs to reinvigorate it. No more Mighty Morphin nostalgia and no more dumbed down writing. There is no reason why the brand can't be for kids and adults like Star Wars, Marvel and D.C. Comics.

On the toy front I'm ready for legends style Power Rangers that come with appropriate weapons, alternate accessories, accurate sculpt and paint applications and build-a-figures of iconic ranger bosses and allies from over the years.

I also hope that Mighty Morphin isn't beaten to death on the toy isles. There are so many other great series to exploit in figure form... Lost Galaxy through Wild Force was just an exceptionally great run for the brand (Don't even get me started on the magic that was Lightspeed Rescue) and the Disney era was pretty good too.

And transformable masterpiece Megazords... I know they haven't announced anything yet, but I'm just so excited. Hasbro seems like the perfect fit for Power Rangers right now.

This is extremely promising.

Looking forward to what Hasbro can do with that, and the potential to intermingle in other areas into the shows like Rom or Dire Wraiths and more.

Curious what this will mean for the construction toy rights though and comic rights. Currently Mattel still has the Mega Construx rights for PR. And Boom still has the comic rights. But with how quickly Hasbro had already recovered from the toy rights purchase, I expect they'll recover as quickly on this purchase. That was relatively cheaper than expected.

Even more interesting is the fact that in toy form, this may cover the Toei/Marvel crossover stuff like Battle Fever J and Toei's Spider-Robo.

And like Marvel Legends, this may mean the Legacy line can continue under the Legacy banner. They technically own it all now.

The 20 eps a season thing will likely stay. That has more to do with airing patterns and Nickelodeon preferences.

The new writers though, likely.

Either way though, we won't see any noticeable changes until after Beast Morphers or the series after that. Depends on how long it takes Hasbro to settle in and do their own thing, and that could take some time. With Beast Morphers already underway, that won't be impacted by this. And if they aren't ready by the end of season 2 of that, that means one more 2 season filler. Then the anniversary season 2 seasons too.

So we'll either see the larger impact starting right after Beast Morphers, or not until after the 30th season. But if they plan it right, it could snowball into a larger shakeup to have a fresh start. Do the next series as build up to a massive 30th annie series, then reset at that point with something that alters the landscape entirely and lets them start fresh while using the past because of the shakeup with a story basis. Shattered Grid gives them an excuse to do that too. Essentially pull a DC Zero Hour/Crisis on Infinite Earths using Drakkon, and then use that to launch an all new united Power Rangers universe starting from a ground zero point that takes place where the history diverges to merge it all into this new world.

Kind of how Abrams did Star Trek's reboot, but setting it far enough after the originals to not re-do that material entirely and leave that for the movies.

But there also was some really good content in the previous too. Only a handful need some overall tweaking, but it'd give them an excuse to find a way to reuse those suits too to cut costs some on a fully new serialized story telling pattern instead of having to reset every 2 years.

I hope the super seasons thing is over.

And yet we'll still probably not be getting any 3.75 offerings.

I've read that the MMPR/Zyuranger Figuarts could only be re-released if they were repackaged as something else (at the time, it was assumed to be a tie-in opportunity with whatever the Power Rangers movie could have been). Then, it seemed like Tamashii Nations found a better alternative - releasing the figures with new parts (the civilian heads shown at Toy Fair 2018). With this news, have the chances for "civilian" MMPR Figuarts dropped? I know that the current Bandai deal lasts until April 2019 but that hardly seems like enough time to rush out an entire line.

Bit confused by the news in general, actually. Is PR still going to be based on Sentai or is it going to gradually change into a new (loosely based) property with original designs? If not, will there be both Bandai Japan and Hasbro iterations of figures?

Bandai will have nothing to do with the figures. Hasbro bought everything Power Rangers. The entire IP. It is theirs now. They haven't announced how they will handle it yet, other than 1st products hitting next year.
