I'll start off by saying Hello all, new to the site. This is my first post and it definitely won't be my last. I've been collecting toys ever since I got my first Star Wars characters at Woolworth's back in the early 80's, and have been in and out of toys ever since.

I'm mainly into vintage 80's figures as I'm opening up a shop soon, but really dig some of the newer toy lines I've seen of late. I've also been blown away by prices as I've been out of the toy "loop" for the past 3-4 years. One of the biggest changes I've noticed was that fact that my favorite Toy magazine has went the way of the dinosaur, and I was wondering if there is a good alternative out there?

I can get my news from here obviously, but I really miss the price guide even though it was a bit off at times it was still nice to have on hand. I've seen a lot of guide's for individual toy lines, but nothing really for everything. The vintage prices don't seem to fluctuate that much from month to month if you know your line, but the new stuff is another story all together.

If anyone has a price guide - toy mag suggestion it would be highly appreciated. It would be great to find something that covered everything, but if I could at least find something to help me out with the 80's lines it would be a big help. My eyes feel like they're about to explode from spending too much time checking prices on Feebay over the past week.

First, welcome aboard!

I used to collect Toyfare yeeeeears ago. I dropped them when their priceguide went lame, and they stopped being funny, though.
Most people use Ebay as a general guide, and for the most part, it's a lot more accurate.
Just browse through the closed auctions, and you can get a general estimate of what something is going for.
It's far from perfect, but then, so was Toyfare.

Welcome!

And I would agree with using Ebay to gauge pricing. I'd also recommend Amazon too (think of it as a second opinion).

To me, ToyFare stopped being funny when half of the creative staff left to do Robot Chicken with Seth Green.

Make sure you check the completed auctions not just the current on going ones.

Someone could have re-listed something over and over at a price no one wants to pay.

Better to see what it actually goes for.
