Actually, I find a lot of times, I get bored of a toyline easily. Like a new movie may come out and it'll spark my interest and I'll buy a bunch of toys but then realize that I don't like it as much as I originally thought I did, or at least the interest isn't retained. This fickleness usually works out for my local charities. For example, when the TMNT CG movie came out, I flipped for TMNT and bought a bunch of movie line figures and two Cowabunga Carl vans. Don't get me wrong, the toyline is amazing but I didn't have the room to display them so I gave all the figures away along with one of the vans (still have one). Part of me feels bad because I spent a bunch of money on toys but then it just feels like I'm buying gifts for the needy so it makes me feel a bit better. lol. Parting with the toys isn't always easy, though. It's the little hoarder in me saying "well, you might find room for these later!" I just gotta say "Chris, let them go!". Honestly, after they leave my hands, I usually don't even think about them which leads me to believe that my "need" to acquire somehow exceeds my "need" to hoard.

Hey...I remember "Heroquest", that was a cool game actually. It may be kinda tough for some kids to learn (it sure was for me) , but Im sure whatever kids got that are happy now as it had some really neat looking figures.

Yeah, it's definitely a play with an adult or older teen as the "host" type of boardgame. It's hours of fun with someone willing to play the part of the evil wizard and monsters for the kids, though.

I thought toys for tots only accepted new toys still in package. Anyway since I got more involved this year in toy collecting I decided I should def donate to these kinds of programs. So with that in mind I found some manufacturing coupons at my local K-mart and went and used them to buy up a lot of the clearance 3 packs Walmart had with Bumblebee, Soundwave & Rodimus for $2 a pop and am going to donate those. when I told the wife she was all like 'AAAH, that is so sweet' so for me it was a win, win: a great deal on toys that I bought and the wife was totally ok with it which is probably why she was ok with me buying the re-issue Optimus Prime I posted in the look at what I got thread

Toys for Tots isn't the only charity that accepts toys for kids so don't let that stop you from donating opened stuff. Most charities only ask that they're "gently used" which is often the case with my stuff. Also, if you care what happens to the toys, make sure you check and see. Some charities will sell the toys and use the cash for whatever it is that they do and other charities will donate the toys directly to the children so do ask. I find a lot of youth centres are happy to take your toys, especially if they're educational or involve group activities like boardgames.

i tend to donate something more useful other than just toys.

stuff like books, puzzles, game boards, coloring or activity books, and other stuff that are more for learning. so it's not just limited to toys.

i just imagine it is also difficult to think what kind of toys to donate, since we have no clue who the recipient will be.

now for those who are cheap, you guys should probably just head down to some dollar stores, close out stores, etc. that's your starting point.

I don't donate anything to kids.

Those lazy little bastards need to get jobs if they want some toys.

Tsk tsk and this is why the morality of this generation has decayed and now believes in aliens.

That is not true.

Everyone knows that aliens are a coverup to divert our attention from more important matters, like Nessie and Bigfoot!

I make an effort to donate every year. Each year I usually have plenty of leftover things unopened in my collection that I no longer want or care for. Last year I went to Babies R US and the bin was completely empty, I returned and completely filled it up by myself.

Already setting aside a nice amount for donation this year as well.

I cleaned out my Walmart of Arctic Destros and Jungle Vipers and dropped them off in the Toys for Tots bin.

Question, does toys for tots only accept new toys? I honestly don't make a ton of $$ so for me to go out and buy a bunch of toys around the holdiays is kinda out of my relm of possabilities and plus I don't wanna buy them dollar store toys that'll break in 10 mins. I do however have a full tub of opened toys, and figures will they take open toys? like 10'' toybiz marvel figures? thinking terminator may not be age appropriate.

Toys for Tots only accepts new sealed toys as far as I'm aware. However, there are plenty of charities that will accept opened toys. Just check before you make the donations.
